Random Nonsensical Gibberish

I've been up late applying for jobs. That, in combintion with the cold medicine, has made it so I now have 4 slightly different but very shiny versions of myself floating around in my head trying to be Muses. Disconcerting, but fanfic writing HAS been good for my professional writing style. Particularly the drabble and snippet writing. I can ( Read more... )

Damn, I'm sorry you have to go through the job application process--it can be a massive pain, or it can be remarkably freeing and renewing (I've fled from some pretty rotten jobs over the years.) Finally falling into the library thing probably saved my life.

Some of the short-term jobs I had were great, though. The time I put in with the fishing industry in Alaska was exhausting but wild, and the smell of herring eventually dissipates *g*. Cultural resource work (archaeo surveys) was fun, with a lot of hiking, but as seasonal as the fishing stuff. Restaurant work bites the big one.

Sending all my spare luck and best wishes your way, as you proceed on your quest! And don't forget--getting paid for writing. What a concept!!!!

Making the decision to leave my current job was freeing. As for this job hunt? Well, my first interview's scheduled for tomorrow. We'll see how it goes.

Actually, I think I prefer keeping my writing primarily in the gift economy. Deadlines which not meeting means you don't eat? Ick.

You have had quite the adventurous set of jobs!

Adventurous is a nice way of putting it...*g*. Took me long enough to actually use that damn diploma! It kind of got in the way in the cannery. I was hell on wheels with the big four-wheel hand-truck, but they never let me play with the forklift. Dammit.

I highly respect your decision to cut loose from an untenable position. I always had a tendency to hang on too long in a losing cause.

Great good luck!!!

Oh god, job applications. I don't know if you're like me and hate it, or like a previous flatmate of mine who loved it and made a hobby out of it, but good luck, anyway!

Also, now I'm picturing a really angsty grant application.

I don't MIND it so much, just a bit tricky keeping all the different 'required' and 'preferred' bits straight with this nasty head cold.

Dude, that grant application was ridiculously angsty! It wasn't ... untrue. Like any documentary film-maker or biographer, I just imposed a narrative structure on the chaos of RL.

New job, eh? That is GOOD. I applaud your decision, sirrah.

And it is no surprise to me at all that people cried. You have the touch!

First interview's tomorrow afternoon, wish me luck! It's an alternative school. I'm trying to figure out if I should dress up, or down...
