Whoa! Not sure what to say, but yeah. It read real to me.

Thanks, akite. It feels almost too real to me. I've been writing bright, cheerful fic like a fiend to get it out of my head.

This, this... God, this is... leaving me speechless. This is creepy. Creepy but great. Sorry I can't offer a more coherent feedback. Wow.

Speechlessness is a solid tribute to this. If "Safe House" were a play, it would be the kind where nobody really wants to applaud at the end. Thanks, thady.

Ouch! I really really liked this. The names and the pronouns were perfect. Yummy.

Thanks for mentioning the names, buzzy. I worked hard to get readers to buy into that, since identity is such a key piece of this story.

you win all the awards everywhere!!! i hit a point in this story, and actually YELLED out loud to my empty apartment: YOU ARE AWESOME!

this rang so true. i love the harshness of it, i love the toughness of both rays, kowalski especially. i LOVE stories that delve in to the fact that he is an undercover operative of some considerable skill, and in to what that could potentially mean about his psyche (and you've written ALL THE GOOD ONES).

and HOORAY for balancing so skillfully on that knife-edge of non-con. oh, the wet pillow! what a great detail, among so many others.

thank you, keerawa.

Heh. You are one hardcore angst fan, zabira. Undercover could be such an ugly mindfuck.

The completely external POV made some things really hard to get across. I'm pretty proud of that wet pillow, the way it implied Armando's emotional state and got a reaction from Ray.

i laughed so hard at that, and was about to disagree. i mean, i watch the silliest, sloppiest romantic comedies, and i sleep with a teddy bear!

and i almost toned down my enthusiasm in this comment, not wanting to seem like scary angst-girl, but i do have a completely genuine love for stories like this one that just twist the knife so beautifully. you did a great job with the parameters you set for yourself, and the complexities of what was happening came across loud and clear.

so maybe i AM scary angst-girl: i grew up with harvey keitel and guys like him as my original crushes, and have watched and enjoyed some really hard-core fucked up movies (i've seen 'bad lieutenant' TWICE). this story was right up my alley, i guess.
