What a marvellous concept, lovingly executed (so to speak). Thanks!

That was completely awesome. I love it when writers manage to capture that sort of matter-of-fact lethality that John has, and your read on Sherlock here is wonderful. I'm particularly enamored of the idea that out of all the characters we know, Sherlock is probably the *least* likely to murder someone. :D And his relief at knowing that John would have his own murder well in hand is somehow both terrifying and incredibly touching. Well played!

Well, Sherlock's not about to murder someone through accident or impulse, he's certainly not going to kill someone because he believes himself incapable of proving them guilty, he's not motivated by greed, and he has a very concrete reason not to kill anyone at all.

Of course, in the end he DOES have people he would kill to protect, if he truly couldn't think of any other way to save them. Which [thought redacted for season 2 spoilers]

And his relief at knowing that John would have his own murder well in hand is somehow both terrifying and incredibly touching.
*chuckles* I suppose that means I'm doing something right!

Oh, this is brilliant - right down to John's matter-of-fact 'bit not good' response to Sherlock's statement at the end.

Ah, thank you! That bit of conversation didn't appear until the 3rd draft. I do like the after-taste it leaves in the mouth.

This is wonderful. I love your take all the characters in this, but John is especially well done, as is Sherlock. The moment when Sherlock deciphers that tight smile of John's gave me the shivers.

Thank you, sophiap! I swear, the only reason John appears so ordinary is because he spends all his time standing next to Sherlock, who's a glaring neon sign of oddity.

The moment when Sherlock deciphers that tight smile of John's gave me the shivers.
Oh, that's fabulous. I was trying to vid that scene, with the confrontation between them about Sherlock not caring, and it's not possible. Because John smiles that odd smile through the entire thing, and Sherlock is so low-affect that without the sound, you cannot easily tell that they're arguing. When Sherlocik says, "I've disappointed you," I think he was honestly trying to figure John's reaction out.
