It's ironic that you're asking this, since you were the one to show me the procedure for removing them during your previous stay here.

The "chip" is a rather small device, placed inside our bodies when we first arrive here. We all have one, no exceptions. It's purpose is to inhibit the use of any "special" or "supernatural" abilities. From the looks of it, a good portion of the those brought here also have some kind of special power. For better or worse, knowledge of the chip itself has become fairly... common, which explains the near-constant mention it continues to get.

Doctors such as you and I can surgically remove them, but they've long since been removed from their original location. I'm working of discovering the new one, but I've been met only by failure, on two separate occasions.

Ah...that's odd. Any idea what it does to those of us without any 'powers'?

Perhaps I could help you look...though do we really want to be taking these out of people? There's been a murder recently, after all. If knowledge of the new location gets out, it would be chaos.

There was a moment where those with their chips still in experienced quite the alteration in their behavior. That was the most talked-about theory, but in the end, I felt that nothing was really proven.

You make good points, and the more I think about it, the less I want to make the knowledge public. The masses will find out eventually, but I'm trying to think about how to minimize the damage, should no one else find it before me.

I'm open to any ideas and suggestions on this, if you have them.

So it's there for something, and is capable of effecting of neurologically (if it isn't doing so already...that's a scary thought).

First of all, how many people know you've been looking for the new location? If it's generally known, people will be expecting results, and lying about it will be next to impossible if the people we hypothetically de-chip suddenly start using their abilities again.

There's no way to force people into secrecy that I know of... Perhaps a screening process of some kind, to determine whether a person could be trusted not only with their abilities, but the secret of the chip's location.

I've kept some of them stored. Perhaps you'd be interested in seeing one for yourself?

Unfortunately, it seems a number of others have already become aware of my efforts. Information on these devices travels very fast if it's not protected, I'm afraid.

I was considering having you, me, and the other doctors present to form a group so that we could decide that on a case-by-case basis. Although I've no doubt "alternate" methods would be created by those left unsatisfied.

Yes, I'd like to get an idea of the size at least. Shall we meet sometime tomorrow, say at the clinic?

So that would be a committee of you, me, Hawkeye...are there any other doctors I'm unaware of? And you're probably right, we would be working against such methods...but perhaps doing it the 'official' way would indicate a degree of trustworthiness, making it worthwhile to go through the screening process in the long run.

That sounds perfect.

Dr. Stein would also be included. There might be some others out there, but just us 4 should fine. Perhaps you're right, and it might be worth it in the end. I'll want us discuss this further once things settle down with the recent murder.

See you tomorrow, then.

I don't believe I've met him yet... Let's make plans for a meeting then between the four of us once things have calmed down.
