What An Amazing Day!

Nov 05, 2008 12:14

So, I'm gonna try to keep this short, cause I'm in the library and hoping that Prom Date will be done soon so we can go eat (btw, it still amazes me that I can say my Prom Date is in the same library as I am, and I'm waiting on her to go get lunch :D)..

BUT

I'm super excited about all the things that are going on right now.

Obama won. Amazing! I don't know if I thought it could actually happen. Not that I would've been against McCain if he won, but I voted for Obama, and he won - feels like I actually accomplished something. Whether or not its true, it feels to me like this country is going to change for the better, and that's exciting. Its also exciting to know that I participated in an election that decided American history in such a substantial way.

It does, however, make me sad that people around me are talking about how they're scared of what this means, and that "the fucker should just be assisinated" or "he's not gonna live through his first term anyways". Yes, I know the entire country isn't ready for this, but I think that the American people as a whole are, and I believe that the rest of the world is ahead of us in this, and I think people should have faith. I also think that a quote I found on Wikipedia from the Australian Prime Minister is quite appropriate here: "Forty-five years ago Martin Luther King had a dream of an America where men and women would be judged not on the colour of their skin but on the content of their character...Today what America has done is turn that dream into a reality." I think that says it just right.

Next, its super exciting that Erath county is now wet!!! Of course it finally gets passed my last year here, and will probably not go into effect until next semester, but its still exciting. One day we'll actually be able to buy beer and wine! And, eventually, maybe even liquor :p

After that comes the fact that Sarah won both tickets and backstage passes to see Randy Rogers on Friday in Ft. Worth - I have to find someone to cover my shift, but thats super awesome! We're both completely psyched :D AND - Sarah just found out that not only do we get to see AND meet Randy Rogers for free, but we get to go to a kick ass RODEO at the same time!!!!!!!!!!! Hell Fuckin Yeah!!! (http://www.texasstampede.org/)

Also, I got my second genetics test back today, and found out I made a 70!!! Which, yes, I know is not amazing, but I had a 59 on my first test, and we only have one other test besides the final, so if I bombed this test, I was basically screwed. I'm already failing another class (because I quit going because I can't drop it, and there was no possibility of passing/I needed the time to focus on other classes), and if I fail 2 classes this semester, I'll have almost no hope of graduation in the spring.

And, speaking of which, I just printed off my Graduation Application and started filling it out. Tomorrow I'm going to try to get my schedule together, and then hopefully see an Advisor by the end of the week so I can register on Monday for my last semester, and turn my graduation application in. That is beyond crazy to me. I hate that my time here is almost over, and I'm scared of what will come once I'm done... But, its still exciting to know that by this time next year I could be a college graduate.........

Last, I think, is the fact that I have a new boy... He's not really new, because we've been friends for a long time - although we haven't talked much until recently - and I've kinda known he's been interested, but other reasons and circumstanses have kept me from persuing him.. Anyways, hung out with him on Halloween, and Sarah and him talked about stuff - some involving me, and so we've been talking and hanging out now.. Not sure if or when it's gonna go anywhere, but it's most definitely nice right now :D

So, on that note, and the fact that Sarah just said she's ready, I'm gonna end this, and hopefully continue my most amazingly wonderful day :D (Oh, and I don't even have to work tonight!)
