I think it sucks that 7 of the 9 shows coming up at The High Ground are metal/hardcore shows. (by the way, have you realized that people aren't using the term "hardcore" much anymore? they've switched to calling everything metal) now, you can disagree and say, "Wait Adrianne. Two of those shows are "screamo" shows." All in all, it's close enough. I know the scene down here is mostly hardcore/metal, but still. and yes, I also know that the only shows that come to THG aren't just metal. but still. it is the majority. big time majority. it just sucks for people like me who aren't that into those genres. now, don't get me wrong, there are a few bands that fit into those genres that I do like. but only a few. I just want to go to more shows where there aren't tons of kids hardcore dancing and hitting everyone else who is trying to just watch the show. I want more shows with less screaming/grunting/pig squeals/whatever. that's one of the main reasons why I haven't been going to many High Ground shows lately. I used to go a lot, whether or not I was really into the bands. it was just something to do. and sometimes I'd walk away liking a band that I didn't think I would like. but now I only go when there is a band that I want to see. I'm done spending my money on band after band who all sound exactly the same. again, it would be different if I was really into metal/whatever, but I am not. now, I'm not blaming it on jay and brad, or anyone else who helps to book shows. I know part of the reason why it's mostly just that genre of music is because that's what kids come out to see. and now, regardless or not if they like the band. a lot of people are coming to metal shows because it's apparently the "cool" music to like and the "cool" thing to do. I just want to hear more music that I am into. I want to go to more shows that I like, without having to always travel to Lafayette. my little rant isn't going to change anything, but I just felt like typing it all out since it's been in my head for so long.
