Ambient Show in a tiny venue = bliss. First let me tell you. It was nice to be back at the 3 rock. It has been far tooooooo long. I am always trying to convince my friends to go drink there and or go eat breakfast there but no takers. It is out of the way in a terrible neighborhood. But it IS my favorite small venue. The only thing that night was missing was a trip to the Hard Times after the show. Anyways, back to the show. I arrived during the 2nd band, Young Galaxy. They were pretty good. I had never heard of them before but they are from Quebec, Canada and well, I am digging Canadian bands as of late. They were a fun band to watch. The best description I can have for the performers was that they had Spunk. I liked them but they didn't completely sell me. I probably won't go out of my way to see them again unless they blow me away with a new album. Next up. The Album Leaf. To be honest, I didn't know a lot by this band. However, I knew ENOUGH to know that I wanted to see them. They are an interesting band to watch. They have a ton of gear on stage with them and everyone plays multiple instruments. I was lucky enough to strike conversation with a guy that worships this band and he explained to me what each synthesizer did for the sound and how they manipulated their instruments. Not a bad way to spend the time in between bands. The album leaf was fun to watch though. They had a large white screen installed behind them so they could play different videos that were in sync with the songs. The videos were strange like a womans hands moving around the screen or a video of horses running across a field. No one was ecspecially outstanding to watch in this band, everyone made the performance as a whole. I am happy they played in such a small venue I am sad that there was hardly anyone there. Cheers: favorite venue, cheap beer, great beer on tap, two good performances, awesome MN fans. Jeers: Low attendance.
