Phrase of the Summer: "I'm sorry, did I step on your trumpet?"
Yes you did, but I forgive you.

This show was better than I anticipated. I feel guilty that I didn't invite anyone to this show, it would have been better if I had shared it with close friends. The reason I didn't is because I really had no idea what to expect. I completely understand that this is a hard band to like and I didn't want to drag anyone along to a show that I figured only I would like. However, I was wrong. The Modified was packed, and it was HOT as a furnace inside. Think tiny place, no air conditioning and tons and tons of bodies dancing and jumping up and down. First Up. I was late for the show by an hour...surprise...but the first band was actually only in the middle of their set. And low and behold it was the cute band that started for The Cloud Room at the Rhythm Room, and yes again I have no idea who they were. I have to investigate this seriously. They are really good live, had tons of fans there, and knew how to get the crowd into their show. They had kids doing the wave, crouching on the ground, pretty much playing Simon Says. It was fun to watch. I actually couldn't imagine a better local band to start for Danielson. (True..I don't know very many local acts) 2nd Up. Worms. They were pretty tight. Lots of screaming, lots of thrashing, and very theatrical. The Lead singer was very unpredictable, one moment he had his back to you screaming, the next he is in the crowd getting in people's faces. I like that. Someone told me about this band recently. I have no idea who it was though. I suspect it was my brother, but I'm not sure. I was surprised that I knew the three songs that I caught. The lead singer reminded me of one of the singers from Black Eyes (no not the crazy voice). Last but definitely not least..
Danielson.
Unforgettable. They were fun, lovely, wacky, hilarious and terrific. Their shows involve a lot. Danielson really knows how to get their crowd involved in the show. First of all, their songs are upbeat and fun, one cannot help but dance a little or at least nod one's head and crack a smile. 2nd they would announce songs like this "Now this is a snap along, clap along, sing along song (song title inserted here)." I felt like I was a kid again in elementary school chorus but it was still fun and humorous. 3rd they made fans in the crowd tell stories about stepping on trumpets and yes even a bus accident involving a trombone...which is in a genre of its own :) 4th this is the only show I have ever been to where the band had every single fan dancing, jumping, singing and clapping. We were all sweating, smiling and dancing our hearts out for them..ha and yes we were rewarded with flashing lights. Great show. I loved every second. If I ever get the chance I will definitely see them again.
Cheers: Daniel's voice is as crazy as it sounds on the recordings. How theatrical all three bands were. How well Danielson played and sounded in The Modified. Jeers: Being alone at The Modified, I really should have taken someone, I hate the extended pauses in between bands there, with no bar there is nothing to do.
