CHAOS DAY!!!

Sep 10, 2005 14:07

hey kids! Well, some exciting things happened today. Today was the 35th annual CHAOS day, a huge event between all seven of the dorms. It was an exciting time of dorm spirit, pointless games, painting our faces like BRAVEHEART, and marching around campus picking fights with the other dorms. here's how it went:

The fun started thursday night as two dorms started getting themselves riled up. SCHULTZE-ELDERSVELD, the dorm who has won for the past 6 years, marched around sounding like a detroit riot. i was actually scared, as i watched them march by my dorm from my window. Later, BOER-BENNINK marched from dorm to dorm, and actually walked into our lobby (about 11:00) with their precious Boar, an actual boar's head and a pun off the name "boer" (which actually means "farmer", but anyway). It was exciting.

Then, last night was the BATTLE FOR THE BYE. it was every dorms chance to skip the first round of the tug-o-war. (since there are seven dorms, one got to go straight to the second round.)

Then, this morning was CHAOS day. All the freshmen were awoken by the sophomores walking through the halls, clanking pans and beating on our doors. (someone refered to it as a legal "freshman hazing") we went downstairs, painted our faces, and continued on to breakfast.

after breakfast, the games commenced. They were stupid, but the point of CHAOS day is more about the dorm spirit than anything else. So, I told you that SCHULTZE-ELDERSVELD has won the past six years (KALSBEEK-HUIZINGA, my dorm, has lost...). Well, my dorm still got last place this year, but SE was dethroned by ROOKS-VANDELLAN. It was immensely exciting. Every single dorm cheered when SE was announced as second place.

Anyway, now it's back to my studies. Philosophy is going to be an awesome class. Next thursday we're going to discuss who has led a more fulfilling life, Mother Theresa or Donald Trump, were the Trump to become a Christian at the end of his life.

P.S. I'm getting married next friday. I find out Monday who she is. Psychology. I have no idea.

Tot ziens! (that's goodbye in Dutch)
