[Video. Sitting staring at his sweet pea plant in a mug, which has been put on his windowsill. On closer inspection, you might notice a layer of water on top of the soil.]

I hope you went back to your brother, Fai-chan. No, you did, I just know it.

[Thoughtful pause]Ino-chan, is there anything special I need to do to look after this flower? I’ve ( Read more... )

I don't know about this particular kind of flower, Obito-kun, but I don't think you are supposed to water them quite that regularly.

It's hard to tell how thirsty it is.

You usually water them every few days, when their soil is dry.

Oh. Well, less maintenance is easier. You'll help me make sure it doesn't die, right Rin? You know I usually mess stuff like this up.

You're doing just fine. Just... a little too much of fine, maybe.

Heh, it's a skill.

Definitely.
Did your friend who gave you the plant leave the City? Who were they?

Yeah, Fai-chan left them as presents for his friends here. He was a kid who had been through a lot of difficult stuff. Stuff he didn't deserve. He had a twin who was in the City for a short time. I like to think they've been reunited, wherever they ended up.

I hope so, too. I'd like to have met him.

He was a good kid. He could use magic, sort of like chakra that you couldn't see, to make plants grow bigger. So it was a good present to pick - it'll remind me of him.

Make plants grow? I think there are some ninja back home who can do that as well, but it's supposed to be really rare.
What did he use his powers for?

He was still learning how to use them, like extend them to making other things bigger. I suggested ice-cream.

He wasn't a fighter, just faced up against some bad people. I don't think his powers helped him all that much.

Maybe it was good that he came to the City, then. It doesn't seem that people have to fight that much here, if ever.
Oh! Will he have to fight in his home... world? Place?

Yeah, the City was a good place for him. I think he was happy here.

[The sad thing is that Fai-chan is going back to almost certain death. Obito doesn't really want to tell her that.]

No, when he goes back, the fighting should end.

Hey Rin, you wanna go get some training in? The forest isn't far and it's sort of like being at home.
