I didn't visit my mom today; I'm trying to decide if the days I do will be considered a secondary job for now, or if I should take a handicap on those days. Wren, what do you think? Otherwise, I think this is a good start to my baseline score.

Hey cool!!!

If your visits to your mom require any combination of these things, I'd count it as a job for now:

arranging daycare
a long, otherwise useless commute
much time spent on the phone or writing letters & handling forms/bills/etc.
a net loss of more than 5-6 hours in that day

Now that I'm thinking about it, I'd say use the job slots. On low-involvement days, just take the low levels of points or skip the question.

Using the job queries will allow you to take partial points in a more consistent manner. (I'm betting you'd skip the handicap on days when you "only" spend a couple of hours on the phone re: your mom.) And, btw, there's nothing wrong with having any given task earn points in several different queries. We all know that multi-tasking shouldn't be penalized. So, for example, if you end up talking to your sibling, about your mom's situation and future plans, for a good chunk of the day, go ahead and count it as contact with extended family and some level of work points and whatever else it could count for. (Laughing and crying come to mind.)

Gotta get to my first writin' day now. I'm glad I scrolled back in my flist far enough to find this.
