This was for me one of the heaviest episodes, not just because Mooney was leaving (that was more bittersweet because he is going home and that's what he wanted) but mostly because the case imo was the darkest they went on terms of what happened. Suicide, attempted suicide and domestic abuse all in one episode, that's indeed quite a lot. I still liked it, it was an engaging case, but just super sad. I was glad too that they didn't do their usual bit at the end, that wouldn't have worked here at all. But this is one of the cases where I really felt with the survivor (won't call her a murderer, it was not murder) and I hope the police department can vouch for her in her trial. On a lighter note, Ruby and the boat was so cute.

Mooney leaving was sad, but it was okay. He was ready to go home. (I'm just glad he wasn't murdered like a certain someone we all remember from the first two seasons...)

The case was definitely not one of the quirky interesting ones. More like, dark and gloomy with a side of sad. But they did handle it well.

Definitely not a murderer! That was manslaughter at most, even though I'd argue for self-defense. The husband was clearly a threat to her and her well-being and she definitely didn't mean to kill him; she just wanted to get away from him.

Oh yeah - Ruby once again proves that you just need to try hard enough. And that St. Marie often works like any village does - you just need to find a gossipy old person and they'll remember stuff from twenty years ago down to the color of the paint they spilled on a boat.
