EPIX - WAR OF THE WORLDS
After a signal is detected from an alien race, the world isn't sure if they should celebrate or be cautious about the news they are no longer alone. After it's discovered the signal can modify human behavior, the reaction becomes terror. As the signal activates across the world, humans drop like flies. The few who lived now must try and survive as the aliens now roam the land, killing everyone they come across. But why did these few survive? Some were lucky. Others weren't affected at all. And why do the aliens want newborns so badly?
Amy Adams. Role as: Catherine Durand.
Catherine is a French scientist in charge of France's equivalent of the US SETI (Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence) program. A signal is detected that is clearly of alien origin, and it is Catherine's job to study it, as well as the technology that created it, in hopes of fighting back against the alien attack.
Adam Driver. Role as: Colonel Mokrani.
No nonsense Military leader, he is in charge of security at the remote location Catherine Durand works at. He leads the teams when they go out to investigate the aftereffects of the invasion, with his main priority the safety of Durand, who is the only person still alive (that they are aware of) who can deciminate the aliens' intentions. A man who normally shows no emotions, that starts to crack when Sophia Durand shows up.
Daisy Ridley. Role as: Sophia Durand
Sophia is Catherine's little sister. Sophia is a typical screw-up, and struggles with drug addictions. Somehow she survived the initial attack as she was on her way to Sophia's remote location. It's unknown how at this point. Her relationship is strained with her big sister, who has raised her since she was 12.
Josh Dallas. Role as: Jonathan Gresham.
Jonathan is the husband of Sarah, and the father of Tom and Emily. He was away on a business trip when the attack occurred, and survived only because of a car accident that submerged him underwater at the same time. He is walking back to his family in England, and on the way meets Chloe Dumont and helps her retrieve her son.
John Schneider. Role as: Bill Ward
Bill Ward is a specialist in behavioral sciences. He is the one who first discovered the signal that Catherine detected was designed to affect human behavior. He managed to save his ex-wife by dragging her into an elevator, where the steel protected them from the alien attack. Now that he has one of robot machines, he is determined to figure the technology out, as well as why Emily and Chloe's son seem to have a connection to the aliens.
Mary Steenburgen. Role as: Helen Brown.
Helen is Bill's ex-wife. Bill is still deeply in love with her. They divorced after the death of their son, which Helen believes Bill is responsible for. It doesn't help that Bill has always been more interested in his research than in his family. She remarried, but her new husband died in the alien attack as he was downstairs taking out the garbage when Bill showed up to their apartment to save them.
