Some stuff I am recommending. (43 items)

1. Songs/Bands/Singers
- In Hell I'll Be In Good Company by The Dead South - Canadian folk-bluegrass - I've liked this one for a while but it was recently used for the TV show Perpetual Grace.
- Say My Name ft. Benjamin Joseph by Peking Duk - Australian - fun fact, this was filmed in Sydney and the actor in the lead role was in Orange is the New Black (one of the prison guards)
- Little Water Song by Ute Lemper - German (in english) - Ute Lemper is a mixed bag in that she does a lot of musical music, but also some caberet/jazzy stuff and a few other genres. She collaborated with The Divine Comedy (a favourite band of mine) to make an album called Punishing Kiss and this was one of the songs on it. It's basically a murder ballad - for this specific song she also collabed with Nick Cave from Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds. This song is like - someone took three of my fav artists, had them collab together on a murder ballad? PERFECT SONG.
- The Divine Comedy - Irish band fronted by Neil Hannon. Casanova is probably my fav album of theirs, but I like songs from other albums too. Tonight We Fly, Perfect Lovesong, Becoming More like Alfie, Something for the Weekend, The Frog Princess, Absent Friends, Come Home Billie Bird and more.

3. Books or a published Short Stories

Here's a list over on Goodreads.com where I've added all these.

- The Open Boat by Stephen Crane - I read this for a community over on reddit (/r/thehemmingwaylist) where we read a bunch of classics over the course of a year. And I loved this one. Its a short story about a shipwreck and the men who have to survive on the ocean in a small boat. Very atmospheric! You can read it free online, I've linked to a pretty pdf version, but its also on Project Gutenberg - its the first story in that book.
- The Writer and the Witch by Robin Sloan - a folk tale, available for free on the Authors website. A Writer gets cursed by a witch and then... you'll have to read to find out.
- Wayfarers series Becky Chambers - I love this series so much but honestly book 2 is my favourite.
- Through the Woods by Emily Carroll - a graphic novel of five spooky tales beautifully illustrated.
- Night of the Living Trekkies by Kevin David Anderson - it's just a fun story about a zombie outbreak at a star trek convention. The Book Trailer is amazing and you need to see it even if you don't read the book.
- Six Wakes by Mur Lafferty - Its a locked room mystery, on a spaceship.
- Sin Du Jour series by Matt Wallace - Starts with book 1 - Envy of Angels and is about a catering company that caters to demons and other supernatural beings.
- Lumberjanes! by Noelle Stevenson - just a fun comic series about a group of campers at Miss Qiunzilla Thiskwin Penniquiqul Thistle Crumpet's camp for hard-core lady-types. The group find themselves on adventures with mysterious bears, three eyed foxed, mermaids, goddesses, holy kittens and other fun stuff.

5. TV Shows
- Zomboat [Trailer] - UK comedy about a group of people escaping the apocalypse on a barge boat.
- Final Space [trailer] - ignore how silly some of the S1 trailer makes it seem. It will break your heart. It is SO GOOD.
- Queer Eye [trailer] - this show just brings me so much joy. Its just five dudes who make over people's lives and change people in a very real way.
- What we do in the shadows [trailer] - uk comedy about a group of vampires who share a house and are followed about by a film crew. It's based off the movie with the same name but has some new characters.
- Pose [trailer] - set in the 1980s ball culture of NY, it deals with LGBTQ+ themes, aids epidemic etc. Its really well done, and S2 is a lot better than S1 in my opinion.
- The Orville [trailer] - ignore that it is Seth Macfarlane. I almost didn't watch this because I don't like his stuff normally, but as the series goes on it become less and less toilet jokes and more and more like proper star trek. There are still some stupid moments, but it has a lot of serious moments and topics and feels to me to be more Star Trek than some actual Star Trek episodes are.
- Gentlman Jack [trailer] - a historical drama set in 1832 and based on the coded diaries by Anne Lister about her relationships with other women. Its amazing, so good. Highly recommend. And I say that as someone who doesn't normally like historical dramas.

6. Board/Card Games
- Gloom - Gloom is a morbidly delightful card game with optional story telling. You control an Addams Family-esque family and the goal of the game is to kill off your own family through misery and sadness while raising the happiness of other players families. Lowest scores wins.
- Jaipur - Jaipur is a card game where you are a trader and need to sell card for tokens to make more money than your opponents before the tokens run out. There's also a mobile version which what I usually play. Its on the app store.

7. Video Games
- Subnautica [Trailer] - an underwater exploration game where you gather resources to create an underwater base. There is a storyline about you crashing on an alien planet and if you follow it along you can reach an endgame, but mostly its just fun to build stuff and explore.
- Slime Rancher [Trailer] - cute adorable farming simulator where you ranch slimes. you can breed them to create combined versions, do quests, explore the area, and find new slimes etc. Its super adorable.

8. Youtube/Twitch Channels
- Ask a Mortician - hosted by Caitlin Doughty ask a mortician is a death positive channel about… death! Caitlin talks about eco friendly funerals, death throughout history, the funeral industry and more death related stuff.

- Sexplanations - Hosted by Dr. Lindsey Doe, sexplanations is a sex positive educational channel that talks about sex, sex and sex! Its probably one of the most demonetised on youtube, but its so educational. I’m over 40 and I have learned things on this channel!

- Sesame Street - Look, I know. It's Sesame Street. But. Amongst all of the kiddy videos they also post retro Sesame Street videos from all eras, and Sesame Street parodies.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1SlB8CiGJ0 Law & Order Parody
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJPnYMNGrEc Walking Dead Parody

- Aunty Donna - An Australian comedy team, they present “Series” of shorts that are usually hilarious. The most recent one was set in a high school. If you watch no other video of theirs, watch the Kiln episode. They also do comedy songs, like the Chuffed Dad song and the Chop Chop.
- Baumgartner Restoration - This guy takes you the process of restoring art. He provides the videos either silent (with just music) or with commentary explaining his process. Takes you through all the steps from cleaning, repairing, retouching etc. Its so cook to see a dirty cracked painting be restored to a beautiful amazing painting.
- Fairbairn Films - two teenagers from Australia who live on a farm and make comedy sketches about random stuff.
- Legal Eagle - a lawyer from the US who watches scenes from tv shows with law stuff in them and breaks them down for the viewers. What is actually happening, if it's legal or even a real thing in the legal world, would actually happen etc.
- Pushing up Roses - normally does game reviews for mystery games, but I'm reccing the channel because lately she has been doing Murder She Wrote episode reviews and they are pretty good/funny.

10. Your own choice of something not on the list.
- Dandelion & Burdock Soda - it originates from the UK and is kinda like a cross between fizzy cough syrup and sarsaparilla but tastes good.
- Darell Lea's Fireworks Chocolate - not sure if this is available outside Australia, but its a block of chocolate that has Rice Bubbles, Popcorn and Popping candy in it. So yummy!
