We headed out to the Farmer's Market today only to find a carnival set up in our space. Puzzled, we drove around a couple of blocks, what we could drive around, anyway. We saw more carnival tents, parked cars and neon tee-shirts proclaiming "My Waterloo Days", but nothing that looked like our market. So on the way home we brought breakfast and veggies from a different market (one much closer to home but much smaller as well) and attempted to locate a garage sale. They used clever marketing. One sign read: My Stuff and My Mother-In-Law's Crap. Another read: My wife is making me have a Garage Sale. Both seemed to lead to the same place, but when we turned up that street all we found was a guy and a very round golden lab in a small garage. There were a couple of tables set up, but since he didn't seem thrilled to see us, there wasn't much stuff, and the stuff that we could see was for children, we passed in the opportunity.
We attempted to drive around the block. We found ourselves at a street that had three cones across it. We could easily fit between the cones, so we turned onto the two lane drive and looked at some of the high class houses in town. We were going to turn off of the road but the first one was blocked by the cones and a motorcycle. Feeling that perhaps we were where we aught not be, we turned off at the next opportunity. We abandoned the search for the mythical yard/garage sale and simply tried to get back to our main road. After turning down a random road, finding a ton of cars parked there, and the end blocked off by another motorcyclist, we finally found out what the big deal was. There was a 5k race going on and they were blocking off the route.
Once we followed the gentleman's directions we located our main road, stopped by the smaller market, then headed back home. After a wonderful breakfast and a wonderful nap, my roommate and I set to work on our website. We have a site through Even Badgers, but we hadn't posted anything on the site yet as it is new and had until recently been having some issues with photo uploads. While it is still in beta form, we now have product online. I'm very excited! Jenna did most of the work, and all of the hard work of loading and checking that things actually loaded, as I had to go to work. But, our shop can be found at:
http://www.evenbadgers.com/spyglassez/ Even Badgers is still small, but anything labeled vintage will *actually be* vintage. There are no resellers, no factory items passed off as handmade, and if you find anything fishy the moderators will do something about it quickly, instead of just shutting down comment threads. It was created by the minds behind www.regretsy.com
Feel free to stop by the website, our store, our blog, and leave us some comments!
