Character name: Leonardo Da Vinci
Fandom: Assassin’s Creed 2
Timeline: When he makes the poison blade for Ezio
Age: Around 26 - historically about this time he was around 28, but he doesn’t look that old to me, so, WILD GUESSTIMATION
~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: Leonardo has no magical abilities - sad face =[ But! He is incredibly intelligent, like, genius level kind of intelligent~
How would they use their abilities?: By helping to modify/improve items, inventing things to be useful around the ship…pimping out his guide...I think that’s pretty much it
Appearance: Leo is a slightly taller-than-average young man, of medium build and pale olive skin. He has sandy blonde hair that hangs a little below his chin, with stubble and sky blue eyes. He prefers to wear bright colours, and more often than not, he will be wearing a smile. As for his clothes, they are typical of a renaissance artist, all brightly coloured and intricately detailed. As said in canon, Leo is always ‘impeccably dressed’;

Personality:  Leonardo is a man of many skills and traits. He is incredibly kind, generous and selfless, and loves helping others.  As talented as he is, he’s also very modest and humble, although he takes a great amount of pride in his creations and work. His charm is almost magnetic, and he has an amazing ability to win people over with his sharp wit and fantastic sense of humour. He loves meeting new people and making friends, and in turn he holds a deep set affection for close friends and his family - as if there was a part of him in each of them once those bonds were set.  Leo also loves to be useful - if he can be helpful to anyone, especially through his work, he is generally more than happy to do so without hesitation.  This is shown clearly through his willingness to assist Ezio when he needs weapons repaired or codex pages deciphered. Furthermore, Leonardo is an incredibly curious individual with a genius level of intelligence; he loves to learn about the world, people, space, and animals - whatever. Whether this is just observing something or sketching it and taking notes, Leo’s forever curious mind can sometimes get him into trouble. He has a naturally very good memory, able to recollect designs and blueprints from memory, no matter how complex or long ago he saw them.

A very easy going, optimistic person in nature, Leo is a comforting person to be around when things get bad. A lover of nature, Leo is a vegetarian, and believes that it is immoral to kill animals merely for food.  He has also been known to buy caged songbirds in large quantities, only to bring them home to his workshop and set them free, believing that no creature should be caged merely for its talent.  Leo is also a pacifist, and doesn’t like violence - watching, partaking, or otherwise. This is linked to his dislike of confrontation. Of course, he can hold his own very well in an argument, but he also knows when to back down and submit, even if he is right in the matter or believes it better for his opponent to think victory.

However, like every man, Leo has a darker side. Not quite as morbid as that sounds, but he has a ‘flashbulb’ temper. When his buttons are pressed (usually through his own designs not working or his friends being threatened) his temper can flare up; this happens quite rarely though, and never lasts for very long.

Background:  Leonardo was born in Florence, Italy, on the 15th of April, 1452. Growing up in rural Tuscany, it was here that Leo developed his love for nature and animals, as his childhood home was surrounded by mountains and fields, filled with natural wildlife. It is also thought that this sparked his creative side from a very early age. As he grew up, his skills as an artist grew with him, and when he later returned to Florence, he went on to study with Andrea Del Verrocchio as an apprentice. Only 14 at this time, it was under Verrocchio’s tutelage that he had the opportunity to help him work on ‘The baptism of Christ’. Soon after he turned 20, Leo opened his own workshop after being  given the title of maestro by the  Guild of Saint Luke. It was during this time that he met and grew close to the Auditore family, especially Ezio. He first met the middle Auditore son when Maria Auditore commissioned some paintings from Leo. She brought Ezio with her to collect them, and it was on the way back to the Auditore home that the two men struck up conversation, starting a strong, long lasting friendship.

The next time we meet Leo in canon is after the unlawful execution of the Auditore men, save for Ezio. After hearing about the deaths of his brothers and father, when they next meet Leo hugs his friend in a silent sort of comfort - the sort that words cannot bring in a situation such as this. A little later, Ezio asks Leo to repair one of his assassin weapons - the hidden blade. Leonardo is instantly intrigued by the design of the weapon. Leo then sets about fixing it, although it isn’t until hours and hours later that he eventually finishes, waking Ezio from a rather improvised nap. Explaining to the assassin how it works, Leo the gravely informs him that he’ll have to remove his ring finger in order to make it work (as this was how the blade used to work back when it was first created). Accepting this as the truth, Ezio offers the ring finger of his left hand, only to have Leo start laughing at his own joke. He then tells him that he modified the blade, so that such amputations were no longer necessary. Almost immediately afterwards, a guard from Florence bangs on the door, demanding to question Leo. Obliging, Leonardo follows him outside, and begins to answer his enquiries. However, when he discovers that Ezio is being sought after, he lies to the guard, saying that he hasn’t seen nor heard from Ezio for quite some time.Sensing his lies, the guard begins beating Leo in an attempt to make him talk. Luckily, Ezio then assassinates him, and hides his body in Leo’s workshop. After this point, the two friends do not meet again until 1478.

During this meeting, Leo comments on how much Ezio has changed, before turning to the task at hand. Ezio brought another codex page from his uncle, Mario Auditore, for Leo to decipher. As it turned out, the page contained new assassination techniques for Ezio to learn. While he goes out back to practice said moves, Leo works on devising another hidden blade for Ezio to use. After practice, Ezio asks Leo about Francesco de’ Pazzi, to which Leo tells him to look for another assassin, known as ‘La Volpe’ - the fox.  After this in canon, Leo only appears very briefly to decipher codex pages for Ezio. After Ezio put an end to the Pazzi conspiracy, he somehow attained yet another codex from one Lorenzo de Medici, and went to Leo to crack it. Although it was another blade design, Leonardo discovered that this blade was different from the others - this injected the victim with poison. Advising it on its use and where to get more Poison, Ezio then leave Leo’s workshop, leaving the artist to his own work.

1st person sample: ( Both are recycled from another app~)

[For anyone heading into the kitchen, they'll soon find Leonardo leant over the kitchen table. Laid out in front of him are numerous little pieces of plastic and metal - or, to trained eyes, his blackberry. In kit form.]

oh mio oh mio, ciò che e...

[Smiling broadly, he puts the piece down and sketches it in a large, worn out looking book. The drawing accompanies others he did previously, of the device at different angles, and anotations of possible workings]

What on Earth are you, amico mio? Hmm~? Certainly this is something worth documenting...now, to put you back together...

[Mere minutes pass before the last piece of the blackberry is clicked into place. Leo goes to compare it with his drawings, when he accidentally hits the power button. When it beeps at him and the screen lights up, his expression only lifts further]

fantastico! Quindi non solo si fa a fare rumore, è bagliore così ...
*incredible! Fantastic! So not only do you make noise, you glow as well...

I will have to ask someone just what you do, I think...fascinating, utterly fascinating...

3rd person sample:
[Leonardo headed out of his room, expecting to walk into his main workshop. He was expecting Agniolo to be cluttering things up, as per usual, or find him cleaning up something he broke. What he wasn’t expecting was to step out of his dark, fuggy room and into a quiet corridor. At first, he just stopped, before looking back into his room, as if the answer to where he was would pop out of the air. His curiousity soon got the best of him, however, as he closed the door to his room and began down the hallway. Despite the state of the room he emerged from, Leonardo was dressed impeccably, his clothes clean and his soft leather boots worn but shiny. His red cape floated behind him as he walked, his strides long and graceful. The architecture of this house was Italian, or, more specifically, it wasn’t of Florentine design.

His mind mulled over this new and exciting scenario; who had brought him here? And why? Looking up, his expression lifted and he stopped momentarily, admiring one of the paintings mounted on the wall. It wasn’t one of his, not that he expected it to be, but the technique of the artist was truly one he admired]

Questions?:  None spring to mind ♥
