Megamind himself was looking far better than his accompanying dinner guest - he'd avoided, as best as possible, soiling any piece of his outfit with the blasted red dust and had had chosen to don the leather and spikes he'd arrived in as opposed to the ridiculous, outdated carnival wear they insisted on stocking the place with.

Oh, how he'd kill for even just one of Minion's capes!

Nevertheless - he had an impression to make and despite the fact that this woman was not Roxanne, she was still royal and that mean an impression had to be made.

Except he wasn't completely certain as to who he was looking for. The transmission had been wholly through audio.

So, he approaches the only other soul out there.

"You there! Identify yourself!"

Odette turns, a bit of a sheepish smile on her face. Though the smile dissolves into a bit of a surprise. At his clothes not his GINORMOUS blue head.

But in a moment, the smile is back.

"I'm Odette."

Small curtsy out of politeness.

"You're Megamind, right?"

...And his first impression is that of an egotistical jerk. Absolutely fantastic.

"Yes. Yes, Megamind, er - apologies, I didn't realize--"

What...was he supposed to do here? Did one bow? She'd made it clear she didn't consider herself a princess anymore, but she still obviously was a princess and therefore that required some amount of protocol, however he was still a villain and didn't that mean he was supposed to want to...what? Kidnap her? Hold her for what, ransom? That didn't work here, his villain cred was nonexistent and he's pretty sure no one takes him seriously here anyway. This wasn't like Metrocity.

This was confusing.

And she's pretty.

He swallowed.

"Ah. This...this way? Please?"

"It's fine, really."

She doesn't seem to be all that wary of him at all. There were much scarier villains on the boat. Has Megamind ever met the large green man with the sword? No? Well neither has Odette. But that's beside the point!

Odette steps into the Great Hall and good! They're not late for dinner.

"Where would you like to sit?"

How had he gotten himself into this mess? It was a fine rut, really - normally, he didn't even eat with everyone else. He would wait until most were gone and then he'd swing by, grab a few things, then flee back to his room where he would resume working on what little inventions he was able to create with the tools he had available.

"...Ah. Anywhere, I suppose. Anywhere not...terribly crowded. Not by the troll. And not by that...suspicious medical female."

"Of course."

Protocol usually called for allowing him to lead the way. But since he doesn't seem to even like the idea of being here with her, she thinks it might be best if she chooses a table. Of course, that begs the question why he had asked her out in the first place. Oh well.

She selects a table set far enough away that she hopes Megamind will be comfortable and sits.

"Is this okay?"

He awkwardly followed after her, having the distinct feeling he was going about this all wrong. He had no idea how to go about acting while around a member of the opposite sex - at least, someone that wasn't Roxanne Ritchi.

Not to mention someone that he actually hadn't intended to ask...to dinner.

Not that he's complaining, mind.

It's just that Megamind's life had centered around only four other people for most of his adult life, and he had little to no experience with social skills or what it was like to engage in these curious 'courtship' rituals.

He scrambled to sit across from her - or should he have chosen the seat directly next to her?

Regardless, he sits, hard.

"This is fantastic. Perfect, even."

She watches him, almost amused as he scrambles to take his seat. If Odette didn't know any better, she'd say he was nervous. But that seemed silly. After all, this wasn't a formal date...Was it...?

It was silly to think about.

With dinner served, Odette begins eating. She's not entirely sure of what to say, really.

Did he want to finish their discussion from the journal? Or talk about something new?

He wanted to know more about the Elegante, right? Well, if that was the case, it was as good an icebreaker as any.

"Well."

He swallowed to calm his nerves. Calm down, you fool alien. You can do this, for Zeus's sake!

"I had some...questions, about your former home, if you don't mind just barreling ahead and chit-chatting about that now. Over dinner.

"You know. Instead of after it. As I had originally said."

Smooth. Really smooth.

Well.

Odette looked up from her meal and smiles at Megamind. Talking about the Elegante wasn't really touchy for her. It was just certain passengers she'd have trouble discussing.

Even so, she sets her fork aside and nods her head. "Ask anything you'd like. I'll explain it the best I can."

"I suppose...I should ask you to start at the beginning." He folded his arms, and leaned back in his chair. "You've elaborated about your home - before this 'Elegante', the Spell, kingdom, this that and the other." He leans forward, eyes glinting.

"What...exactly was this ship? From what you've mentioned in passing, it...didn't precisely sound like a joyride."

Odette paused and took a moment to consider his question. Even after everything that had happened when the End found them, Odette still didn't fully understand what the boat was. Still, she would answer with what she did know. "It was meant to be a safe haven. Very similar to Lord Deior's Keep. He rescued us after something called The End devoured our homes and took us to a place called the Golden Shore."

She folded her hands in her lap and seemed a bit lost in her memories. "Even though he had saved us, the place Captain Redd had brought us was actually very dangerous." She had died once and bore the heavy scars from that final fight.

"No, there was hardly anything good about that boat. Except the other passangers."
