Mini Event! the spider and the mistletoe

Across the Keep runs a rather large spider, scampering from building to building, room to room and carrying with him a decent sized branch of mistletoe. One might catch him skittering up a wall to build a web above a doorway, or stringing mistletoe up from various points on the ceiling.

Honestly Jael doesn't really put much stock in this mistletoe tradition - kissing because you end up under a plant? How silly! - so she's not really watching the ceiling as she walks around the keep. She's just glad to finally be able to leave her room without worry again.

Christmas was celebrated differently in Burim Pax. But there was some things that never changed. Mistletoe was one of them. Matt was glad for it, especially seeing Jael caught under one.

Just another excuse to kiss her.

Jael blinked at Matt before looking up to see the mistletoe she had strayed under. Well, she didn't celebrate this tradition, but it was never too late to start, right?

She grinned at Matt and gestured for him to come closer with a finger.

He saunters up to her, hands slipping around her waist and drawing her in close.

"I don't think I really need an excuse to kiss you, but it doesn't hurt to have one, does it?"

Jael slides her hands up his arms to wrap around his neck. Her smiles widens and she shakes her head, leaning up to give Matt a quick peck on the lips.

Tease? Her? No way.

"Oh come on that's not fair."

He leans closer, forehead leaning against hers. "How about a real kiss this time, hm?"

Jael grins and leans forward to kiss him full on the lips this time, tightening her grip around his neck.

That's better. After a moment or two, he is pulls away, albeit reluctantly. His lungs are burning for air. He smiles at her, arms still looped around her waist. "I love you."

Did he just...

He did. And now he's turning bright red. He just said that out loud.

For a long moment, Jael just gapes at Matt, hands sliding down to his shoulders.

And then she finally processes what he said and beams, mouthing "I love you too" and leaning forward to kiss him hard.

Well that didn't go entirely like he expected. Matt's face is still bright red, but he's pleased. Better than pleased. Jael's kiss is welcomed and he lifts her up in his arms.

This is probably the best day in his life ever.

Jael tightens her grip on Matt's shoulders when he lifts her up, grinning into the kiss before deepening it.
