lily (thread w/ equius backdated to before lessons start)unit_67October 18 2011, 03:32:25 UTC
This could be something you never expected you'd ever see, though if you did expect to see a little blonde girl pulling a beefy grey troll to medieval dancing lessons by the arm, I want to know what you're smoking and where I can get some. That's exactly what's happening now. Lily is all but dragging Equius into the dance hall - because learning to dance is way more fun than archery, right? Right!
"Equius," Lily huffs, trying and failing to mask her frustration, "it's just dancing. Come onnn. Neither of us can dance, these are dance lessons, it's common sense!" Do you have any idea how hard it is to keep a firm grip on a really, really sweaty arm? It's hard. Lily has had her hands in grosser stuff, sure, but seriously. "And people dance at parties, right? I think? So we need to know how to dance for the Hallow's Eve party or whatever it's called, right? It'll be fun!"
(Note: This DOES count as Lily's thread, so tag here if you wanna dance! All dances are welcome. Everything will be dated after Lily and Equius's thread.)
A loud grinding noise echoes throughout the dance hall, as Lily may as well be dragging a resisting statue. His shoes dig into the floor, scraping it up something fierce yet his partner seems persistent enough to make progress.
"This is ridiculous. You will stop pulling me," He growls, his piercing yellow glare peering over his shades, "I do not dance. Can we not just spar more. I will even allow you to kick me in the throat again." He's huffing and fussing until they finally reach the place. He's not even sure what kind of dances humans do. This can only lead to foolishness and embarrassment, in his mind.
"You dance today. Come on, Eq, I'm not asking you to wear a frilly outfit or anything. God, you're sweaty." Lily eventually stops dragging him once they're a good distance from the door. You know, in case he tries to make a break for it. "It'll be fuuuuun! Tons of fun! We can spar tomorrow, I promise!"She stares up at him, pouting. "If I let go, are you gonna run away?"
"It is a condition." Equius rubbed his arms against his shirt, trying to dry them after he pulled himself out of Lily's grasp. "Alternians do not run. That does not mean I wish to dance... I'm not interested in fun," He grumbled, "But fine. I will assist you in learning how to dance. For your own benefit."
"Just for my own? Come on, Eq." POUT POUT POUT. This is some serious pouting with some serious puppy-dog eyes. Can they GET any bigger? "At least try and have fun."
Ugh, this is a useless endeavor. She should just let him leave. However, she has one last idea...
"... I bet I can dance way better than you can, anyway."
His stone cold expression is almost weakened by her giant blue eyes, but he shall remain set in his unhappiness. "Why? I am not a dancer, I would not get any pleasure from this-"
And then she challenges him, when he was already beginning to consider it. His expression darkens as he speaks. "I do not doubt that you can, as dancing is a trivial earth activity, but I can learn to just as well as any other. I am already close to beating you at archery, I suppose I can spare the time to beat you at another activity." He growls, standing up straight. You have yourself a dance partner, Lily.
"You're nowhere near beating me at archery, but I'll admit you're improving. I mean, you're being taught by me, after all." Lily grins. That wasn't too hard. She should have thought of it earlier. What other stuff can she get Equius to do by challenging him? "Can I bet I'll have more fun than you or is that pushing it?"
"I am improving rather rapidly, Lily. It's a natural skill I have. I was hatched to be perfect at archery." He wrinkles his nose, giving a bit of a smirk at that last part.
"I'm fairly certain you'd win that bet, but we will see how this turns out."
The lessons commence a few minutes later. Lily and Equius... are terrible. Lily knows the steps, but not where to turn. Equius mainly focuses on not, you know, crushing anyone's feet. Take two young teenagers and tell them to dance, this is the result. Lily was made to kill things, not skip around them. Wow, what a horrible thing to think.
When Lily's fed up with this dancing business, she breaks off from the group and goes to sit by the wall, panting as she leans against it.
And so they danced. Oh god, this is difficult as Equius isn't exactly light on his feet. "Do NOT step on her feet" is the only thought on his mind as he shuffles around awkwardly with her. He sees her leave and quickly follows, breathing rather normally but obviously a bit distressed at his lack of elegant moves.
"Indeed... You did rather well, though.... Eh-... Of course, I had to lead you around a bit at some parts... But other than that."
"Uhh, yeah, you did." Lily laughs and tucks some hair behind her ear. "You were alright, too. I mean, I think you spent a liiittle too much time staring at your feet." She looks up at him with a smile. "It wouldn't hurt - stepping on my toes or anything. Let's call this challenge a draw?"
"Not entirely, though... You handled yourself decently... And thank you. I do not think you would have appreciated the spiked bottoms of my shoes making contact with your feet, though.. A draw it is, then. Until I get better, of course." He faintly grinned for a moment, only to go back to his usual surly expression.
"Well, yeah, the spikes... I forgot about those. Still, though. I bet you would have had more fun if you weren't so super worried about it." Lily cracks her knuckles one by one. Wow, that's a horrible sound. Bad habit. "Hey Eq, you should smile more often."
"Because looking all stoic all the time is kind of... off-putting, I guess? You're always all serious, even when we're dancing. I don't think you're supposed to be all serious when you're dancing. But, uh, I wouldn't really know." Lily stands up and stretches. Dancing really takes a toll on your body! "Is it because of your teeth?"
"I'm not really concerning myself with looking on-putting or off-putting. This is how I am. Besides, I think these types of dances are more serious, though I haven't had much time to observe any other form of dance." He shrugs, dismissively. "...What is wrong with my teeth?"
Honest question, Equius doesn't think broken teeth are a bad sign. Just a sign that one is strong enough to take a few hits to the face! There's a seedling of self-consciousness in him, now.
