With Nel still recovering and Joe in such shitty shape, Kevas is pulling double duty checking on them both. Not like he can exactly ignore the smell coming out of that kitchen anyway. It may not be fish, but damn does that smell good. Although those aren't the only reasons that he's here.

When he steps inside Kevas gives the door a couple of light knocks to let Joe know someone's here. Last thing he wants is to sneak up on the poor guy and give him a heart attack. The past few days have been rough enough as is. It makes Kevas feel even worse to ask something of him.

"Knock knock mon."

Joe's had time to cool down since their last encounter. Besides, this time of year always put him in a good mood. When Kevas called out, Joe looked up from the lettuce he'd been tearing apart to give the Troll a nod.

"'lo Kevas. What can I do fer ye?"

And Kevas had a talk with the missus that made him understand what everyone was trying to beat through his thick skull. Kevas tipped his hat in return and walked through the kitchen eying the pots and pans of food curiously.

"Just makin' sure joo still be standin'. Any mon take care of joor back yet?" If Nel was feeling like herself he wouldn't even have to ask that. She'd be on him like bees on honey.

Given their current state, Joe would be asking her to move along and leave him be. He really wasn't impressed with what happened and blames himself for her death, no matter how he tried to stop her.

"Aye, the lass Yuna came to visit while I was in the stocks an' did some... magical mumbo jumbo. It's a lot better than it was. Just, don't go slappin' me on the back any time soon an' we'll get along just fine."

"Yeah I t'ink I can manage dat."

"So what be all dis fuh?" He gestured around the kitchen at everything Joe was working so hard on.

"M'not allowed to say just yet. Definitely a good thing though... which this place sure as fock needs after the week gone by."

Joe figures Kevas will catch his drift. It's kind of hard to miss, really.

"Long as dere be liquah I don't care what it be." Kevas was an easy troll to please.

There was a moment of silence before Kevas spoke up again. "Hey mon dere be a couple of favuhs dat I be wantin' to ask of jah when joo ain't be cookin' a weeks wort' of food in a day, and I promise dat dis one won't end up goin' as badly as da last time I asked jah fuh sometin'."

Joe nodded at the mention of liquor, silently promising the Troll that there will be more than enough drink to go around.

When Kevas continued, Joe looked up at him. "Alright, shoot. What've y'got on yer mind, Kev?"

And thus Kevas was appeased.

"Dat trick joo did wid da journal, making joor response just to me, how'd joo do dat?" Because something like that would be extremely useful in this place. Hopefully no complicated electronics were involved.

He looked to Kevas, momentarily lost in thought as Joe decided whether Kevas was one to trust with the trick or not. It had taken some time to work out the ins and outs of the seal, but Joe and the others managed in time enough. It couldn't hurt to show Kevas. So far the troll hadn't given Joe any reason to question him.

"Right, now that there's a fancy trick, an' one I'll be askin' ye to keep quiet. If me showin' you this gets out or falls into the wrong hands, we're in fer a lot of trouble."

It wasn't a no, more just a friendly warning of the importance in keeping it a secret. "I'll show y'how, but... tch. M'trustin' you here."

Kevas was seriously beginning to wonder if there was any secret in this keep that wouldn't land someone in the stocks for knowing. Then again, Kevas knew all too well that a loosely kept secret was as dangerous as any weapon. Back when he was an assassin, getting someone killed could be easily accomplished by letting one well kept secret slip to the wrong person.

"I dealt wid secrets all da time back home. I can deal wid dis one. Besides, joo can always tell dem I forced jah to do it." After the trouble Kevas got him into last time, he didn't have any problem taking the blame for something like this.

With a nod, Joe snatched his own journal from the counter and flipped it open to a blank page. Similar as it was to the book Kevas would have, Joe's was slightly smaller, with a flexible cover that he might fold it in half if the need arose.

"Right. M'gonna write you somethin' an' we'll go from there."

That said, Joe picked up a spare quill and, in his untidy scrawl wrote, "Kevas, I fockin' hate crows. - Joe" Immediately after, the man grabbed a nearby candle, tipping the wax light with expert ease and dripped a glob of hot wax onto the page. He let it cool a second, but before allowing the wax to set hard, Joe pressed his thumb into the glob, thus sealing the written words from any who might intervene.

"An' that's that. Questions?"
