"-wondering if you'd like to dance! What-..."

What is this, where is he? The doctor glances around for a moment, taking one step forward before stumbling and staggering a few more steps. That doesn't feel quite right, he's not feeling the long flowing magical robes he's gotten used to.

"Where am I? What- oh... Oh, dear..."

The doctor glances down at his new... body? looking at his flimsy straw-hands then at his flimsy straw-legs... Is it going to hurt? Oh man, is this going to hurt?! He feels up to around his collar, rubbing the spot between his neck and the new body...

"O-Oh dear, what on earth... I don't-... Hello?"

The scarecrow lifts up the brim of his hat to get a good look around the walkway he's on. Oddly enough, the terror hasn't settled in yet.

"Malkus? Lad?"

That voice sounded familiar.

Jack turns and looks at the un-beaked and large hatted scarecrow, "Is that you in there?"

The captain brings his scarecrow body over to his Second First Mate.

Oh, good! The captain will make some sense of all this. Malkus tips his hat up a bit to get a good look at the-...scare-...crow captain. A deep sigh is heard from beneath the giant wizard hat and Malkus sounds more inconvenienced than anything. Well, at least he's not a Jack-o-Lantern, right? Right?

"A-Ah yes... Hello, Captain... I er-..." sigh "I suppose you've fallen into a bit of trouble as well, then..."

The doctor wobbles and staggers over to Jack, wiggling his boneless scarecrow arms and legs like a cartoon.

Jack catches his first mate.

"We're in a bit of trouble, aye. But it's not the worst I've been in." Jack smiles at Malkus, those gold teeth sparkling still. "We'll be right as rain soon!"

Lying, the captain was good at.

"Lets find out who isn't apart of this mess, shall we?"

One minute they were talking.

And in a blink it all went horribly, terribly wrong.

Tammy watched as the doctor stopped in midsentence. Watched as his hat vanished. Watched as what was under the hat disappeared. Watched as his body slowly slumped toward her, his body that was all wrong now, lopsided and utterly incorrect and no, no, it was missing, what was happening, where was his head, he needed his head, people's heads didn't just disappear--

That keening sound, where was it coming from? She couldn't--

Jesus, get a grip on yourself, woman.

Her arms came up, caught the doctor's slumping body before it could hit the ground. They moved of their own accord, her knees bending to help support the sudden weight, gently guiding him down to lay across the floor as carefully as she might have deposited a child.

His head is gone Antalyon, it's GONE don't tell me to get a grip--

Either contain yourself or I'm taking over.Few other threats would work as well. Tammy took a deep breath, looked away from the doctor's body and counted to ( ... )

This was a predicament. Yes, Malkus has experienced a little magic here and there on himself in his time spent at the keep but this was something a bit more startlingly unexpected and well... Not having his body is quite a downer. A complicated problem, indeed.

Suppose the next question is where exactly might one find their body? Yes he could check the hall, where he was, and that was what he intended to do right now but-

What if they don't want him to get his body back? Troubling... Malkus is sitting his scarecrow-body down outside, in the green. He needs to think of a way to maneuver this strange flimsy body back to where he thinks his slightly less flimsy body could be.

Being deep in thought and rather motionless has given the doctor a blank staring, statuesque appearance.

Even without his head the doctor was still taller than Tammy. And despite being quite thin, he still weighed far too much for Tammy to carry around for very long. Unable to take him with her, Tammy dragged Malkus' headless body to a corner of the hall, out of the way of general traffic which would hopefully keep people from tripping over him and potentially doing more damage to him.

Though a couple of bruises didn't mean much without a head.

Once he was relatively safely tucked away Tammy took a moment to compose herself. It only took a few more insistent prods from that other voice in her head to get her moving again, turning and heading out of the hall.

She didn't really have any idea where to start looking, but figured she'd do as she did when she was looking for the pumpkin with her face on it; wander around until she came across it. The fact that she never had found her pumpkin was a bit discouraging but she'd try not to dwell on that ( ... )

The hat fidgeted a bit, as if awoken from a drowsy half-sleep all of a sudden. The brim of the doctor's hat was low, completely hiding his head, though Tammy ought to be able to tell who it is. Quite a unique hat, after all.

Slowly, the scarecrow sprawls his legs out, pressing his straw hands against the ground. This will be difficult...

"Hm-...? Yes- yes I am awake-... Who is it?"

He drew his hay legs in towards himself, trying to get to his feet in a disorganized and flailing manner. When he finally got up on one knee, he shifted all of his weight around to finally get on both feet. It wasn't very balanced, and the scarecrow swayed from side to side. It's almost as if the doctor dozed off for a moment.

"Being a bit numb from the neck down doesn't do much to help one feel awake and active... Who's there? Miss Sable? That you, dear?"

"Yes, it's me. Great dusty lamp, Doc." Tammy went over to him and lifted her hands, but didn't touch him. It was all too weird. Instead she held out her hands about half a foot from him. That was definitely his hat, that was certainly Malkus' voice, but that was not his body. That was plainly apparent, even if she hadn't just left it in the hall.

"How did this happen?"

"Dusty lamps indeed, Tammy." He lifted the front of his hat up, showing a pair of tired and confused eyes. The flimsy straw legs buckle and Malkus stumbles back a bit, throwing his arms around in a disorganized mess, sending bits of straw floating to the ground.

"I'd like to know this, as well. It was quite fast and I'm somewhat thankful I didn't feel anything when it happened."

Tammy automatically moved as he flailed, bringing her hands closer but still not quite touching him. She wasn't sure what would happen if she grabbed him wrong and pulled off an arm, or some straw, or anything. Would it hurt him? She shivered at the thought of the sensation he might endure, though he didn't seem to react too adversely to the straw currently falling off him.

"Thank someone for small favors at least. Can't imagine it would've felt too..." Yeah, let's just leave that thought there. "So you just...suddenly had this body?"

"That is a good point. And yes, in the blink of an eye I'm sitting here... Have you seen my erm-... you know. My eh-...corpse? Er- body."

He's really going to hope it isn't running around somewhere, causing all sorts of shenanigans and mischievous happenings.

"I, uh. I left it in the hall. I mean, I moved it out of the way, as much as I could, but you're a lot taller than me and I couldn't actually move you that far." Now that she'd found him Tammy discovered she wasn't sure how to proceed. Was this a permanent state? She hoped not, for his sake; those straw hands didn't look too dexterous, not to mention this problem he was having keeping his balance.

"Do you want to go and maybe see if being in the same place as your body might cause a reunion?"

"You moved it? I erm- I apologize if it seems rather messy. You did not have to do that, for me. But thank you."

He would bow if he wasn't sure his head would topple over. Your guess is as good as his.

"That may work..."

"Actually it wasn't messy at all." And here she gestured to her robes, though perhaps blood wouldn't show up that well on black cloth. "You lost your head pretty cleanly, Doc. I guess you could be proud of that."

Yeah, definitely don't bow. She doesn't want to start chasing his head as it rolls around the grounds. Bad enough to have to go looking for it once.

"It's worth a shot at any rate, unless you know of anyone else who might have an idea what this is all about."
