Anger Management

Jun 30, 2010 01:46

I try not to let myself get upset often. If I can help it, I try to repeat to myself helpful phrases- "This too shall pass," "Do what you can, accept, move on," or "It's not worth being bothered about."

Every once in a while, things do get through to me and piss me off. I usually have two reactions:

1. Go somewhere to be alone, think things through, and try to understand the nature of what is causing my anger.

It works pretty well, keeps me from pissing people off, forces me to take accountability, and I learn more about myself.

or

2. I get so angry I physically shake uncontrollably (never thought this happened to people in real life) and become nauseous (not from the shaking, but from being upset).

Then once #2 has passed, I go to #1.

It's been awhile since I've been angry enough to experience #2. I hope it passes soon as I really had some delicious watermelon after dinner and I'd hate for that to be wasted.

edit: a hot bath does nicely too...
