Woohoo! I no longer need to get my HIV tests done at an anonymous clinic: U.S. Lifts Ban on HIV-Positive Foreigners.

The state controls all of the anonymous clinics....

yes, but you don't have to give your real name to get tested or get results...so the state has data that a person has HIV, not the particular individual

Man, I never think to give out a different name than my own. Things like that never occur to me.

yeah anonymous clinics dont actually check if you are lying or not...they just require any name you want to give them. They do that so that they dont have to report your real identity to the state that runs them.

Although other clinics are very good as well, the free STD clinic at harborview will also allow you to lie about your information if you explain to them why. I was going to use my insurance to pay for services there once since i had good insurance and didnt want to leech off the system...but the insurance required the results of the HIV test to pay for anything there, so the attendant informed them that the clinic would cover my fees in that case because it was none of their business ha ha.

Yeah, Harborview is pretty much THE place for testing for gay men, since the state gas us qualified as "High Risk" so it becomes a matter of public healthy to ensure we're properly tested and treated.

Yeah, the real problem was that I could be deported if I were found to have HIV. I was tested for HIV when I got my green card, and I've been asked a couple of times on government forms. Sadly, with additional research I did, I found out that it's actually up to the US Dept of Health run by the current Administration to remove it from the books, but they are free to remove it now, where they weren't before.
