Title: Jealousy
Author: redrush
Pairing: Eddie/Pippin
Rated: SLASH, PG
Notes: I love Eddie’s theory about Monty being a shell game and unreadable. This little ficlet came from that theory.

“Um, Monty.” Eddie growled as he took in his surroundings. “This is a gay bar.”

Pippin smiled and took stock of the bar’s patrons. “Yes, mate it is.”
He signaled to the bartender for drinks.

“We’re on duty, asshole.”

“Yes, we are and I’m missing my lunchtime shag to follow this Jerome Jenkins around the city.”

Eddie scoffed and scanned the room. “I still don’t get why we’re here?”

Pippin winked at Eddie. Eddie rolled his eyes and let out a very frustrated sigh.

Suddenly Monty leaned in very close to Eddie. He licked his lips and narrowed his eyes. Eddie craned his neck trying to move away from Pip without being obvious about it. He started to fidget uncontrollably. Monty looked at him skeptically.

“Jenkins girlfriend, Anastasia Collins works here. She’s a hostess, I figured he might pop in for lunch.”

Eddie nodded and grabbed his beer from the bar. He took a long pull and looked around the room. A very tall dark haired young man sitting next to him started flirting with Pip. Eddie noticed his hand slide up Pippin’s thigh and watched as the muscles in his partner’s leg contracted. It never occurred to Eddie that in all Monty and Audrey’s swinging adventures that Monty may have had sex with a man.

That thought made his stomach twist. Eddie took a long swig from the beer bottle.

“Hi, can I get you another beer?”

A beautiful young woman smiled at him from across the bar. Eddie smiled back and pulled out his badge. “No, but you can answer a few questions for me.”

She paled a bit but smiled. “About Jerome?”

Eddie nodded and turned to Monty. Who wasn’t there? He looked around the club for a moment and he couldn’t spot him. He turned back to the girl and started growling questions at her. Ten minutes later he decided that Jerome really wasn’t worth picking up for questioning and that it was time to regroup.

He stepped out of the dark club and into the harsh sunlight of the afternoon. He walked down the block to Pippin’s car and leaned up against it. He pulled out his cell phone and called Monty. A few minutes later he heard another cell phone ringing and Monty stepped onto the curb.

“Where the fuck did you go?” Eddie nearly yelled snapping his phone off.

Monty put his finger to the side of his nose and looked back down the side street he came out of. Eddie rolled his eyes and got into the car. As Monty slid into the driver’s seat Eddie turned to look at him.

“You know what I find more disturbing than the fact that you got picked up by a guy?”

Monty gave a non-committal grunt.

“It’s the fact that I think it should have been me who went into that alley with you.”
