Truly A Spartan

This whole week, Michigan Week, has made me realize just how glad I am to be a Spartan.

I know I once posted about still being a Wolverine, but that has been strongly chucked into the Red Cedar. I know I grew up wanting to go there. At one point in time, it was my goal to be in their color guard. I bled maize & blue.

Now, especially after yesterday...no. Absolutely not. I hate that scUM.

In a more eloquent way: it got me thinking about what my life might be like had I gone there. It would have sucked - no guard, not many friends from home, no journalism (regardless of the fact that it isn't my major anymore), and probably some awkwardness with a friend of mine.

I wouldn't be in the SMB, either, and that's probably been one of my favorite experiences. It really hit me when we sang "Shadows" after practice one day. At that point, I couldn't even imagine if I'd gone there, and I still can't. This is where I belong.

After seeing the MMB this weekend, I'm especially glad - they weren't bad, but we are so much better...especially in guard. We're much closer to a competitive-level guard, like in high school, than they are; I probably would have been so bored. I really don't know why everyone thinks that band is so awesome - they just get more publicity than we do because of their football team.

Oh, and I hate their football team and stupid Lloyd Carr and Mike Hart and Chad Douchebag Henne. Just for the record. I have never been more excited than when we had the lead over them. Never. And they ruined it and made thousands of Spartans cry. You don't do that to us. You just don't.

My brother has not been very kind on this matter. My mom was actually sad we lost, though, I just found out. I'm proud of her.
