Gates

Okay, so I was gone for a week and posted almost nothing, now I'ma posting fool. I think it's the joy of a napping child. Although I'll likely regret it in about an hour, when I will be wishing that I had napped along with her.

Right now, though, I'm uploading more pictures from the beach and I've finished putting together another gate. I have gates everywhere now. I have a metal one at the top of the stairs as you come into the main level of the house, and then there's another one going into the kitchen. It's very swank: hardwood and automatic closing. I've got one of the gates I bought 5 years ago when Jack was a puppy on the 3rd step on the stairway up to the bedrooms. This is because Ella learned to climb stairs at the beach. Now we're in trouble. She's discovered that not only does it get her someplace new, it's something she can do all by herself. She was playing on the bottom stair this morning while I was fixing her oatmeal and the next thing I know, she's up at the top, yelling at me to come see her new accomplishment. I kid you not, it took her about 45 seconds to scale the entire flight of stairs.

Why did I have to have a smart, resourceful and determined child? Seriously.

So now I have 3 gates up in the house and I have one that's still in the box. I think I over-reached with that one. The problem with the gates is that they are, you guessed it, child proof. Which means that I have issues getting through them.

And here's the worst part: my butt cannot get any bigger or I'll have to go through the gates sideways. You know, I thought that having to get back into my fat clothes or the weight that I've been the past few months would inspire me to lose some weight. But instead, it's the fact that I have baby gates throughout my house and Evenflo seems to think my ass is bordering on too wide. Well, I guess we all have our different inspirations.

On that happy note, I suppose it really is time for me to take my own nap.

weight, ella
