I just finished playing Portal (
check out the trailer). Austin had recommended it in his LJ not too long ago, but I have to admit the real reason I decided to play it was because I was tired of seeing references to
cake (SPOILER behind this link) and
weighted companion cubes all over the internet. I was like, what's the big effing deal with this game?
I had already seen the
flash version of the game, and it looked like a neat puzzle game. The actual game is definitely cooler. It's a neat puzzle game, and then some. I've never even played the Half-life games, but now I'm considering playing them since I liked Portal so much.
If you haven't played Portal yet (although it seems I'm the only person on the planet who hadn't), you should do so now!
EDIT: I forgot to mention the motion sickness problem I had with the game. Some puzzles require to go through portal after portal to gain momentum. I'm a weakling when it comes to things that fuck with your perception of which way is up. I managed to get through it ok, though, as long as I took breaks.
