Nice things

Earlier this evening as I stood waiting under a bus shelter on Old Kent Road, two European guys joined me, one asking for a light. I gave him my matches and he lit his last smoke. Their bus arrived before mine and both attempted to board but the matches guy wasn't let on because he had no prepay on his Oyster Card. To be certain that he really was a caricature of himself, the London bus driver refused to accept cash, sent the European to the ticket machine and then sped off leaving him alone in the street. At this point the matches guy opened up and began explaining to me how this had been, thus far, the worst day of his life.

At that moment my bus pulled up and before stepping on I stopped and gave worst day of his life matches guy my cigarettes and light, I don't know why. Soon I found out - my Oyster Card was finished for prepay and I had no cash to even offer. The bus driver firmly rejected my appeal for a free ride. I started to get off the bus and there was worst day of his life European matches man handing me a two pound coin. I paid the driver, put on my headphones and rode all the way to my front door.

This happening just reminded me that sometimes its good to do something unexpected and selfless occasionally, and that sometimes there are good people out there who help you in return. Contrary to popular belief, not everyone out there is a cunt.
