So F%@$#!& Stupid

I hate, I Hate, I HATE: CREDIT CARD FRAUD! I feel so bloody stupid. Just five minutes ago I called Bank of America in near hysterics to hastily cancel my debit card and close any transactions. The reason? Bloody PayPal. No, actually it is my own damn fault.

F.Y.I. If you get an email from help@paypalcardservice.com (or anyone else for that matter) asking you to update your credit card information, and it asks you to verify your account by giving (1). Your credit card number (2). Your credit card expiration date (3). Your credit card identification number and (4). Your credit card PIN NUMBER! ..Don't

What an idiot... I can't believe I fell for it. WELL! It's a damn good thing I got mad at PayPal, because I got this email at an old address! In fact, the email address at which I received this "important" email telling me about possible "account access restrictions" isn't even on my PayPal account. (Talk about my missing a rather dramatic red flag waving in my face) So I wrote PayPal costumer service a rather livid complaint asking that they fix this problem at once.

That was Monday. Tonight, I still have not heard back from PayPal and so I go back to my account. When I do this I chance upon the "Protect yourself from fraudulent emails" link. I no more than read two lines when I realize what's happened. I couldn't run for the telephone fast enough. While I'm dialing Bank of America's 24 service line I'm simultaneously going online to my account to make sure none of my money is missing... it's all there, luckily.

So the card I have now is no longer any good. I'm going to have to update my card information for various places and with many businesses when I get my new one in a couple days... but hey! at least it made for a good story.

Happy Wednesday Night everyone,
and look out for those identity-thieves!
