Lots of stuff going on these days... As I've not been as good about religiously updating, I'll try to give you an overview of some of the better stories.
Last night, a bat got into the basement. No clue how, but it definitely surprised the shit out of me. I may have to revise my statement from "I'm not afraid of bats" to "I'm not afraid of bats when they are more than 1 foot above my head." For example, if a bat flew into the room here at work right now, I don't think I'd mind much. He'd have several feet of space to fly around in, and would probably find his way outside without too much of a problem. But in the basement, when there is six inches of clearance and the bat is freaking out because there are no exits, it's a little nuts. Thankfully, it doesn't appear to have been around very long, which means it is very unlikely to have bitten anyone, which means we are VERY unlikely to have rabies. In any case, I'll ask the doctor tomorrow if I should get vaccinated just in case.
Speaking of doctors, tomorrow I see Dr. Schemmel about my tonsils. He's an Ear, Nose, and Throat guy, or otorhinolaryngologist, and he'll decide whether or not I need to go under the knife for the second time in as many years. Right now I'm thinking I might need to get them out. Surgery doesn't scare me as much as it used to (since I've successfully gone through it once), and I don't think the downtime will be very long. Better to do it sooner rather than later, in any case.
I put some books on hold back during the last week of June, and now I've discovered that the wonderful library system has lost them, and has no idea where the hell they are. I decided to investigate, because it seems to me that usually when OUR desk loses things, it's because they were never taken off the shelf to begin with. That effort was unsuccessful, however, because I found 3 holes on the shelves where my books should have been. The system has automatically cancelled my holds, and I guess the books are on their way back to Memorial for reshelving. Oh boy.
Also tomorrow, I see a personal trainer for the first time. They're gonna hook me up to a bunch of equipment at the SERF and run some tests to figure out random shit about my muscles in order to tell me the best excersizes to do for my particular muscle type. Joy. It's pretty cheap too, me being a student and all. If it's excellent, I might make some appointments for workouts with trainers, otherwise I'll just keep going with Hobbes, Jenna, and Charles. I'm doing a good job sticking with it this time, which makes me very excited. Of course, it's helpful to have the gym 5 minutes bike ride away, instead of 20 minutes drive. Bike means no cost to get there, which is clutch.
Birthday this weekend, should be nucking futs. If you can read this, feel free to come to CAPTURE THE FLAG on Saturday... we're meeting at Jefferson at 1:00, leaving at 1:30, and coming back around 10:00 for drinking and fun. Although I will be quite drunk, I will still have limits. Last year, my stomach gave me a clear warning that it was about to reject things sent down there if I drank any more, so I was able to stop successfully when I needed to. Hopefully, this year will fare the same. Of course, I won't be drinking anything particularly strong, just probably quite a lot of stuff.
Work is going alright. I'm hanging in there with the bad library schedule, and making some cash, which is the point. I still have time to relax every night, and still have time to spend with my friends, working out, reading, etc. So this means that it's not so bad.
