Last week,
laurhead and I were joking about how
Godspeed you! Black emperor's lengthy post-rock songs might just be able to be sped up by 3-4 times and turned into pop or dance. It turns out that that's actually the case.
So, here's five tracks:
TitleOriginalExplanation1
IntroThe Dead Flag BluesI ended up putting this one first because it does work as in introduction; segueing from the "The car's on fire, there's no driver at the wheel" speech into a sped-up conclusion that surprised me.2
To the End of the WorldProvidence3
Tremor09-15-00This was the original experiment. It's the entire song, compressed into 4:30.4
Ta MèreMotherfucker=RedeemerMade after realising that there's a classic boom-tschich drumbeat early on in the song.5
Redeemed Motherfucker=Redeemer Likely my favourite of the five. It was why I ended up splitting Motherfucker=Redeemer into two parts.
My goal here was to construct the songs out of only collage and compression of that song. However, I did end up abandoning my original goal of using the entire song in each collage.
