Do these remind you of the dinosaurs in the movie Jurassic Park?
Do dinosaurs still walk the earth? For me they do.
Every night as I got out from the lift and walk along the corridor to my unit, I gazed out to the horizon and is greeted by the sight of the never ceasing work of one of the busiest port in the world. Clearly before me will be the giant yellow cranes lit by bright sodium lamps. Sometimes I can even discern one of the cranes moving from one area to another; probable off to load or unload some of the thousands of colourful containers parked under them.
If I were to leave my windows facing the port open at night, I can dimly heard the pulse of the motors running the giant yellow cranes, each one measuring at least 10 to 20 storeys high.
Thus despite the relatively peaceful and and quiet area right in front of my flat, I could never really develop any feeling of calm or tranquility when I look out of my front windows. What I feel instead is a sense of endless work cycle.
The feeling is not so stronge in the day as the port seem more distance without the glaring bright lamps in the night and the motors seem more muted. Still, peace and tranquilty does not project as well in bright sunny day as in dark starry night for me.
Which is why I normally keep the windows shut. :)
