Tutorial #3

Back by popular demand (not really), I'll be showing you guys how to make this icon. It's an slightly difficult tutorial that can be tranferred to other prgrams. I will be using Photofiltre. Here we go!

How to get this:

First we get our image. I'll be using one from a Naruto wallpaper. Crop your image to however you want, and place it over a 125x125 white background. Mine was a bitch to crop, because of all of Sakura's little hair ornaments. I ended up erasing them, hehe. This is what I have now:

Sharpen it once, because it looks a little blurry. Now take this red pattern and paste it behind your image. Make sure to put it behind your image, or else you get a fuzzy grey outline all around your picture. Crop off the extra white space.

Add this gradient and paste it over your image. Fade it at 40%, like this.

Brighten the image 15% so you get this:

Then darken it 40% like this:

Now, you see those lighter grey spots by her hair? I hate those! Let's make 'em disappear, kay? Take the eyedropper tool, select an area near her hair but not on it, and go over them with the smallest pixel brush you can find. Sharpen one more time, and you are done!

In a nutshell...
-Crop image.
-Sharpen once.
-Select and paste it over this image (red pattern).
-Add gradient, fade at 40 percent.
-Brighten 15 percent, darken 40.
-Sharpen one more time

I'd LOVE to see what anyone made using this tut, and let me know if I should make any more! Enjoy!
