“What are you ?”
The silence echoed violently through the empty house. It was dark, the only source of light was at an lonely room at the corner of the expensive looking duplex. On the floor of the empty room, he laid there, his mind a jumble of mess, confusion, tiredness and just pure of hatred of his life. Beside him the slow rolling beer bottle made it way to the rest of it’s kind under the small table.
It stayed that way, he didn’t know for sure how long, but it must’ve been a long time. He just knew, his body numb, and it doesn’t seem to be in the mood to move anywhere. The sudden creak of the front door held no possible recognition to him, he already knew who it was.
“So, are you really going to lay there all month ? What the hell man ? What kind of man are you ?!?” the scold came from a small -arms crossed- figure near his doorway.
“Go away Ji, seriously” his voice came out hoarse and dead.
“Right, and when I come back tomorrow morning I’ll have to clean up your pathetic carcass,” The now-chestnut hair boy isn’t letting up.
Well it wasn’t going to work anyhow, he simply turned his body the other way and shut his eyes close. Mumbling incoherence to zone out the nagging that is still near his vicinity.
After a few more attempts of dragging and kicking later Jiyong decided it was time to give up. He heaved himself up and huffed out the room. Slamming the door harshly, he left the house as if he never came in the first place.
The silence once again took control and he closed his eyes as the memories flows back like a tidal wave. Hitting him hard, he didn’t want to but tears formed at he corner of his eyes, it hurt so bad. He lost her now. He lost everyone he ever loved.

There’s something special about the watch he’s holding. He found it when he scrambled to picked up the phone a few minutes ago, Dae called to ask him if he have enough food for another week, they called his situation Emo Hibernation.
He wasn’t sure what about the watch is special exactly but as he leaned against the exposed beam in the kitchen -barely not shaking the small beam with his lanky form- he intended to find out. It would gives him something to do anyways. Staring at it, it’s just a normal watch, it have gold tinted crown and outer bezel and the dial is black, in contrast to the white bulky band. It shines lightly as he lifted into the light, and he felt his lip curled into a soft smile. It must be special.
---
It was night, the house was dimmed, the flickering candles he laid out when the power went out helped a bit. But he was damn terrified. Even Seungri had called to ask if he’ll be okay, of course he’ll be okay, he’s just……completely petrified of the dark is all.
He sat on his bed, at the far corner,….just in case. Hugging his knees close to his chest he allowed his mind to roamed freely again. He wondered if she’s now happy without him. If he’s meant to be alone, wonders about if he chose a different path, not as an idol but as a normal mechanic, would his life change much ?
He thought of his brothers, his once band mates, and wonders if they’re content with their life. Because he himself aren’t sure if living out his dream would always result in happiness, he had a rude awakening already.
There are was a stinging feeling in his hand. He opened it and there, sitting perfectly on his palm was the watch again. And he smiled to it’s soft luminosity against the dancing flames of the candles.
---
He ponders if it was a Sunday, before stepping out on the street, he tried his best to cover himself to the best of his ability, people are going to ask why there is a guy wearing a low ridding beanie and scarf in the middle of summer. But it doesn’t matter, he just need to show Ji the watch he found. The guy refused to come over, saying that he needed to make the trip on his own. Getting some fresh air was obviously also the by product.
He ringed the doorbell twice before he was met with more ridicules from the now-blond again boy in a purple sleeveless shirt.
“Ewwww what are you wearing ?” Jiyong sneered.
“It’s a fashion statement, I’m trying to sweat for my diet, I have a fever, now can you just take a look at the damn watch ?” he grumbled, not amused by the always fashionista’s take on “everyday high fashion”.
“Well,” he held out his open palm “let’s see this thing” declared Jiyong.
He must’ve looked very awkward and nervous handing the other the watch because Jiyong ushered him inside immediately. Made him sit and listen to his rambles on life and how hard it is to own a rising company, blah blah. Then told him that even he hadn’t the slightest idea of when did the watch showed up in life let alone his’.
Sighing, he made his way back to his own house. Empty once again. But at least the watch keeps him company. Okay, he was going insane.
---
It had been 3 days since he last spoke to Jiyong. But he still frowned when the familiar number appeared on his phone’s screen at the moment he was about to have lunch.
“Hello?” he greeted unexcitedly, fiddling with “the watch”-it’s now special, very special -on his left hand.
“HEY ! YOU WOULD NEVER GUESSED WHAT HAPPENED !!!” Jiyong’s voice blared through the device and he forced it a bit away from his ear.
“There’s a sale on pink panda bears ?” he remarked.
“No it‘- they have those !!?” the other boy exclaimed excitedly.
“…..”
“Oh you asshole, well listen, I’ll pick you up tomorrow, dress nice, and I’ll bring that 7 foot 5 bodyguard to drag you out of the house if you refuse, bye” Jiyong spoke quickly then hung up.
He slammed his head on the granite kitchen table.
---
It’s midnight, he fixed the time on “the watch” and so he can tell how long it was until Jiyong comes and drag him to probably another sale on bath toys. As he laid restless on his bed, the windows were opened and the moonlight drapes the room with it’s soft glow.
“What are you ?” he asked softly as he held the watch up again for the umpteenth time.
Narrowing his eyes, he shakes it. Then groaned to himself, he really was going insane, asking a watch for it’s name. But at least, at least it kept him occupied, he thought of it as part of the healing process.
Suddenly, the surface underneath caught his eyes. There were worn out carvings. He jumped up excitedly, reaching for the light switch.
---
“T-A-B-I” he read the carved letters underneath “the watch” again. “is that your name ?”
He stared at it, okay obvious insanity leaching, he’s like that guy and the bloody volleyball in that western movie. But name must means something, it was his nickname after all.
“Tabi, tabi, tabi,” he repeated the word to himself, tapping his foot, waiting for Jiyong and to get this over with.
And soon enough Jiyong showed up in his company’s giant van-in which he consider VERY unfashionable, with wide smiling Daesung and Sengri in the back seats.
---
He didn’t know where they were going, gazing out the window on the passenger’s side was somewhat amusing for while but it gets boring as all he saw later was flat fields.
It wasn’t until they pulled up to a huge parking spot that he realized that they were in Seoul’s new airport. He still didn’t spoke a word to any of them, just followed closely behind a they walked through the gates, making light conversations, nothing to do with who was visiting.
“Hey Hyung !!!” Seungri’s voice suddenly quirks up.
It wasn’t until he lifted his head and met with warm chocolate brown eyes and that famous smile that his heart skipped a beat. He was standing there, with his luggage in his hands, waving his head cutely toward their general direction, and the lump on his throat grew.
3 years. It had been too long.
As the other rushes to new arrival’s side, taking his luggage, giving bear hugs, asking how long he waited, how was his stayed in America. But he himself just stood there eyes locked on the small figure smiling and greeting his friends which he haven’t seen I na long time.
Jiyong decided to lead the other two out first because they were “hungry” , brushing past him casually. But he just stood there. Eyes still wide as the other boy walked toward him, a smiled still graced his full lip. And on his wrist, the familiar colors of something he was clutching for the life of him on his left palm. As if awaken from a dream, he stared down at his hand, and then at the tanned wrist. Well, he answered the question of why it’s so special. It’d not the watch’s name, it’s what it’s stands for. And he knew for sure, under the other boy’s watch is the carved word BeBe.
“Hyung,” Young Bae started when he reached arm length of him , his eyes still have it‘s incredible warmth“ It’s good to see you again” Young Bae’s soft smile reached his eyes at full force.
That smile. It was like the sunshine to his world, his anti-drug.
And Seunghyun could feel his lip cracked a smile that’s full of life. He pulled Youngbae into an tight embrace, wanting to make up for all those loneliness. He won’t ever let go again.
