I"m ambivalent on both Anthony and the Johnsons and superstition. You forgot an in between choice. Which I imagine would be most people's choice.

Never hear of Antony and the Johnsons -- I'm old -- but your writing makes me want to listen. Apropos, I had an interesting conversation with a heterosexual male friend today. "Are your emotional needs being taken care of?" I asked. "Who thinks about shit like that," he scoffed and I thought I do -- all the time.

I'm ambivalent about the afterlife too. Interestingly, a remote acquaintance of my 17 year old son killed himself yesterday -- I don't know how. My son used this as an excuse to cut school and then appeared to forget about it. I was more affected but in an odd way. I kept thinking, The reason teenagers kill themselves is because it's the first time they feel this degree of experience, it's a new despair. There's no one to tell them: this too shall pass, baybee, and y'know what? It's just the first of many.

I added you to my flist by the way because I love your art/

Hetero. Not my type of music. I like the fact that they're clearly culturally different and celebrate the rebel feel and so am glad that there are people who are into them. Anytime something positive and outside the norm is out there then it is a very good thing. Anytime someone sings of feelings that are hard to describe otherwise giving an insight into them even when it could be over the top is something that can reveal by being overdramatic ideas about feelings that we might miss otherwise ( ... )

I have to qualify my first response. While this is the first time I've heard of this singer, I could not definitively say I don't care. I'll have to listen.

As for my second response, I wouldn't say I'm superstitious but I do believe there is more to life than what we experience day to day. I also believe that Karma exists though not quite the way most in the West think - good acts may not be immediately rewarded, bad acts may not be immediately punished, but that there are forces in the universe which bring balance to things. I do, however, try to do no harm.

Does this make sense?
