Things have been busy lately, and few things can inspire me to update (or do much of anything anymore). I have a practice LSAT I'm going to tomorrow by 9 am...I should be sleeping.
But here I am, not sleeping and indeed updating. Tonight I saw "Lost in Translation," and though I'm constantly being distracted as I try to write this post, I just have to say drop whatever you're doing right now, including reading this post, and go see it. Now. What are you still doing here?
Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansen were both phenomenal...I haven't seen acting like that in a while, and I've seen some good movies lately. I can't remember the last time I genuinely cared about characters in a movie so much. Nothing happens, there's so little plot, but you're never ever bored. You really so want the best for these people, and they seem SO human. The soundtrack, the cinematography and editing, the everything, just spot on. If the leads don't both get Oscar nominations, there's a serious problem.
Movie time is about to get goooooood, since December is Oscar season. "Big Fish," "21 Grams," "Cold Mountain" coming up, "Lost in Translation" and "The Human Stain" already here. This year's winter break may end up looking a lot like last year's (19 movies in 19 days), especially since then I'll be leaving for England and will have movies there that came about 6 months earlier here!
