Here's the News

So after all this time in Florida, I will finally be starting work tomorrow. What a long road it has been. Over the past couple of weeks I have had 2 auditions, 1 call-back and have been to the casting building twice. Lets see if I can get this all out on electronic paper.

Audition one: We went to the audition on August 19th. Along with 400 other people we signed up to sing our 2 sixteen bar cuts of out songs. We arrived at 12:30, but were told to sign in and come back at 4:30. That is fine, it beats hanging out there all day. So we returned and sang our stuff. The good thing about these auditions, is that they tell you right away if you are called back. Chris, Erin and I all got call-backs. Erins was to be on the 29th, and Chris and I on the 30th.

Callbacks: Erin had her callback and did wonderfully, she had to read some lines and sing a song that they provided for her. Erin said that she had them rolling. Chris and I had our callbacks the next day, and it took all morning and the early afternoon - we were called back for a couple of things. We sang our stuff, and it was good. The bad thing about these callbacks is that they can call you next week, or a couple months from now - so we didn't know when we would be working. This in mind, we went to casting that day.

Casting: After filling out the preliminary paperwork and watching a nifty casting video - we went to meet with a recruiter/casting agent. While meeting with this recruiter I set up a character audition, and a back-up job if I didn't pass the audition. My back-up plan was Attractions host at Magic Kingdom. My Character audition was this last thursday the 1st.

Character Audition: 20 of us auditioned that day, and we were all numbered. The audition consisted of a dance step and a mime section. After we all learned those two things, we were lined up in the hallway and went in with groups of four. After the audition was done, we went back to our waiting room to see if we make it. There were casting recruiters there on hand to offer us our jobs, or take our back-up plans. After a bit of waiting there were 6 of us left. During the next half hour to 40 min, I was taken out of the room and asked to do some other audition type things. (I can't reveal the magic) But it went really well, and they were impressed. The character casting director talked to me personally. Unfortunately, being my height and the fact that they had just done rehearsals for some of their character shows - they could not offer me a role at this time. But they did offer my the Character Pool. If a character job opens up, thew will pull from the pool. So I took my back-up plan and will be working Magic Kingdom Attractions.

I don't know which attraction I will be put at, but I do know that it will be either Adventureland or Liberty Square. Those attractions are: The Haunted Mansion, Hall of Presidents, Riverboat, Jungle Cruise, Tiki Room, Aladdin's Carpets, Pirates of the Carribean and the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse. Some of these prospects are more appealing than others - so keep your fingers crossed. I start work tomorrow with the day long orientation called Traditions. I can't wait to start.

Which of the above attractions do you think would be the most fun to work?
