My Birthday Wish
My birthday is January 26th and I couldn't decide how to celebrate. Should I take a trip? Throw a party? Go skydiving?
And then I realized how lucky I am that I can choose how to celebrate my birthday. You know who else would like to plan a birthday party?
The millions of people who have to walk miles every day just to get water to drink. The children who skip primary school to lug 40-pound Jerry cans on their backs. The family members who try to nurse their brothers and sisters back to health after a waterborne illness has infected them. Clean drinking water is a basic human need and 800 million people on the planet don't have access to it.
I want to help them. Instead of birthday gifts, I'm asking you and anyone we know to donate so we can fund water projects in developing countries. 100% of every dollar we raise goes toward project costs. And when the projects are finished (about 18 months), charity: water will show us just where they were built and who is using them! Now that’s a birthday present!
