Oh Zak. I mean I get the concept of provocation but I'm just thinking about this. What if Zak was totally an ass? It isn't unusal to venerate a loved one who died before their time. What if the picture of Zak we got was totally hindsight from Kara and Lee and Bill.

Loved Kara in this. Her familiarity and ease with being in physical pain but her difficulty with seeing Lee in that same situation. It's heartbreaking. And it is so easy to see Lee taking it all, both the physical and emotional abuse from Zak and still believing he has yet more to atone.

Wow, I'll say this piece really made me think thinky thoughts about all the characters which I'm not communicating very well but I do think that's one of the signs of a great fic.

I love this idea especially for Zak, the idea that everyone has invented a past to fit with the guilt they feel in the present because I think it is very true to life. There are some Zak-isn't-such-a-great-guy fics around. Let me know if you want some recs.

Kara's very twisted relationship with physical pain is fascinating, and I really like how it played out in this. How it ended up creating another level to her feelings for Lee.

This is the first part of one of my favorites. It is unfinished if that's a problem for you. Very frustratingly unfinished because she teases that she's about the postthe final chapter adn then doesn't. :( But I love it because it's an interesting twist and the first really AU-ish fic I ever really got into. The Zak bit is really subtle but that's what I think makes it work. Eris and Aurora part 1

Thank you for the recs! I really loved the first one. How it changed her relationship with Adama really shook things up. Being unfinished wasn't so so bad when I knew before I started.

The second is, as you say, not perfect but it's an interesting idea. I do love when there is extra mythology pulled into things.

It was the consistency in Adama's character despite the complete reversal of his relationship with Kara that really sold me on Eris and Aurora. The fact that it was unfinished drove me crazy for a long time, unhelped by the fact that I first read it within a week of the last chapter being posted so I really had hope for the conclusion for a long time. Then one day I re-read it and could just see how it would have ended. I should read it again, but it is a true classic.

Another Way I sometimes debate even reccing. I don't think it's bad so much as it points out pretty clearly some of the inherent faults in the WIP style of writing. It's such a great concept that I wish the threads were more consistent. But it's also such a great concept that I think it still works as a story. I also love that Kara and Lee don't end up happy even though it's clearly a K/L piece and I adore the tease of Sam in the coda so much sometimes I just read that. hee.
