I keep wanting to write a bunch a posts about TV and how I watch TV and what I think about it, but every time I go to start I think that I haven’t quite found the right starting point. Then the other day I realized where I needed to begin… At the beginning, right? Sort of, but not really ( Read more... )

First seasons tend to be slow and repetitive because the show is trying to grow an audience. Exposition is a killer, and I would almost guarantee that if networks gave the viewers a little more credit more shows would actually gain an audience faster. I think cable shows kind of show that - short runs with DVD and download access to get new viewers up to speed.

Alcatraz was the only, the only show all last season that I was sad when it was the last episode and then it was the last episode. :(

I've watched the first season of SoA but it got lost last summer because I couldn't watch it with the kids home in the afternoon. At all. Justified I started with my husband but Paul is not the TV person so that one got lost too. Another show I may try to catch up with is The Good Wife cuz it was an awesome cast. And Homeland, also because I like the cast. (Casting is huge for me. I have a proper post on that planned.)

Movies need Joss, but I need him making TV again. The Avengers definitely pointed out how poorly most movies handle ensemble casts.

Oh, I love to make up TV shows. It should be a proper hobby that can be listed on forms. This show wouldn't even need to be Black Widow and Hawkeye but their dynamic works really well. And TV is so the place to build backstory and big emotional interplay. Oh how I love it!

This is so true!

And I wholeheartedly recommend The Good Wife and Homeland --they are probably my favorite shows on TV right now. I am not going to lie, the first season of The Good Wife is kind of slow-paced and it took me about 12-13 episodes to really get into it, but after that... I love it so much! The acting is terrific and the writing is so subtle and sharp and smart <3 And Homeland is fantastic, too. Great performances (I love Claire Danes' character) and gripping plot. You definitely should give them a shot if you are curious, when you find the right time.

I've seen a few episodes of S1 of the Good Wife which might help me. And I love Claire Danes and Damien Lewis. YAY!!!
