This are from no_takebacks  this week.

From Monday.

Prompt: Kissing

He frames her face with his hands, and Kara wondered if he can feel her shaking, if he thinks less of her for it.  Probably he thinks more of her, of this inevitable, it is Lee after all.  Her eyes skitter away trying to take in the scene so she’ll remember it forever.  The sky is bright and blue, nearly cloudless.  The grass is so green it glows as it waves around their ankles.  Hills roll away from the field, protecting this sacred place.  Birds sing out from the trees.  Their song fills her heart as it fills the air.  The breezes brushes through her hair, cools the tears collecting in her lashes.  This is it.

A shift starts in the sky, a crack that threatens to splits the heavens open.  Her stomach sinks and turns like she’s been hit by an extra g-force coming out of the launch tubes.  She almost lurches except for his hands, Lee’s hands.  Potential coils in her limbs, tingling until Kara thinks she’s going to burst into nothing, everything.

Then she meets his eyes, bluer than the sky, more real than anything she can imagine.  A gasp escapes her mouth as his lips touch hers.  Gingerly at first but soon sucking and slanting.  His breathe fills her, replacing her erosion.  Lee Adama is holding her up, pulling her back together.  He is the magnetic force that tethers her soul into orbit.  When their lips part, Kara closes her eyes.  Fear and failure lodge in her heart.    She doesn’t want to see anymore.

But Lee continues to press lips on her forehead, her temple, her cheek as the smell even as  the cold of the Galactica brig pushes through the fresh breeze, the bright colors of a new world.  She doesn’t know where or when she is only that she’s sinking fast.  Her head is pounding, her gut a whirlpool hauling her back, down and away.  She’s surrounded by gray, seized only by his forehead resting on hers.  Panic rises until he pulls her into a hug and whispers the only words that mean a damn, “I believe you, Kara Thrace.”

She can’t say anything back, but Kara feels her muscles fall, her body lean and her tears flow.  Lee catches her and kisses her in that spot just under her ear.  It’s like he’s still speaking.  Words she can’t hear.  Words that maybe don’t exist but they mend the rift in her.  Lee Adama doesn’t just believe her, and buried in her shoulder she smiles.
