this girl in my class got into a fight with a boy, both equally hormonal and immature it seems. they were shouting at each other in the middle of my instruction so i had to tell them to stand at opposite ends of the classroom. the girl kept chatting on her cell phone so i had to tell her to give it to me but she wouldnt and she cursed at me instead. i sent her to the dean. all this in my biggest class of 40 students. it was a giant scene.
and then two boys after class talked to me just asking me if i was okay cuz i was visibly angry. they started talking about their futures and what they want to do for a living, and i mentioned investing and the stock market and believing in a free market economy. i asked, do you remember the dotcom bust of 2000? they gave me blank stares. "i was only 7 years old when that happened mister." oh right.
there was a big savings and loan crisis in the 1980s that i dont remember. and a giant recession in 1990-91 that i don't remember. important events in our economy and history that i was too young to recall. they were events that seemed like armageddon at the time, but after each and every occasion we bounced back and the economy and country grew stronger. there will always be booms and busts, the booms always bigger overall than the busts. the busts are necessary to create the next boom.
uh.... dont be afraid of making mistakes and having unfortunate events occur. i will recover from the mess i'm in and grow stronger. just gotta think positive. what a corny ass message i somehow got at.
