Sounds of the Loon

Scott, (An)T(h)ony, and I skipped work to ski Loon yesterday. It was an excellent day trip. But I'm not going to talk about the skiing.

Instead, I just want to relate a specific memory: eating lunch.

We ate at a mid-mountain lodge (Camp III Lodge, for those following along at home).  I mean, like, the only way (for the general public) to get to this lodge, is to ski (or board) down a trail to it. And the only way to leave it, is to go on down another trail.

Inside, they had various high-priced griddle & frier kinda food, plus some soup. I got a "Buffalo Soldier", which was a bison burger with BLT & bleu cheese.

I dunno, there's something about this paradigm that hugely appeals to me. Everyone there was in their ski or boarding gear, wearing boots inside, looking tired but absolutely euphoric. You could feel the GoodnessVibe in there...no one was down. It was like a special club or something - you could only go and pay assrape prices for their food if you were incredibly satisfied with life. And also wearing snow gear.
