Scion Update: Mad Machine Finale
Last night was great. After getting to Wednesday night's game last, I was first this time. I got to feed the little one (he's such a cutie!), and then I got over my fear of singing "in front" (everyone was sitting behind me as I sang, so it technically wasn't in front of them) of people as we did a bit of SingStar. baronsamedi and penitent_tom started us off with a duet of "Two Princes". Then I did "Take On Me" by Ah-ha with penitent_tom. baronsamedi did a rather boisterous rendetion of "No Rain". I then did "Clocks" by Coldplay, which none of them knew and no one had even done yet, so I set the bar pretty high. My only problem with it was my voice can't get as low as Chris. I also realized that my lungs aren't quite as good as they used to be. However, by the time I got jedishadowolf up to conquer her fear and sing "Don't Fear the Reaper" with me, I had, well, stopped shaking and was able to hold those long notes. I did notice my voice doing a bit of vibrato now and then. After that, the_blonde_one and penitent_tom did an equally interesting rendition of Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It". I have a feeling that I am going to be buying this game, just because. Plus, you can download additional songs, of which there are some good classic ones I actually know.
After the karaoke, we all settled down and got started. There was an unexpected ending, that may or may not turn out to be even more interesting once people speak with baronsamedi more on the subject. I need to do so, myself, to check a few reactions. I'll add that part later. But for now...
We continued up the stairs to the final room. I reached into a shadow and pulled out two sets of pom-poms, one for me, one for Erika. She keeps saying that she does a lot of cheerleading, and I have been doing a lot lately, too. She really liked them. As Ray and Cesar opened the door, there were two robots coming in the window, but suddenly behind them was a huge explosion and we caught sight of Anna flying by on her Pegasus. There were two Gyuki, two of the bodyguard robots, the half human ones, and four other robots, including the two out the windows. Ray and Cesar dashed in after the two in the windows and spectacularly took them out. Erika did a little cheer and entranced the Gyuki. I did a flying leap over Erika and slashed through one of the bodyguards. By the time I turned around, we were left with the two Gyuki. I teamed up with Ray, who kicked it in the balls and threw it into the air, I leapt off Ray's leg to gain momentum and stabbed it in the head as Ray grabbed it's horns and threw it towards the floor and impaled it with his sword. Sam and Cesar put lots of bullet holes in the other one. It was quite impressive. As we were coordinating with the other group, and were trying to figure out what to do since we'd somehow lost Adam, Adam suddenly showed up and within moments, the shields were disabled.
We met back up, compared notes (the other group had a bit harder time because they didn't have people as quick as we did), and headed to the big building. As we arrived, we found three helicopters and two familiar faces standing outside. It was Oda and Togo! Erika ran up to hug Oda, while I hugged Togo. He had his new bag with him and seemed very proud to show it off. Oda brought the helicopters for Ray's and Cesar's followers to use. Togo had beans for us that would boost our health levels and then one to heal us if we needed it. Once we were all powered up, we started up. I think everyone was pretty quiet because we were thinking about what might happen. This is the toughest enemy we've ever faced. He can do the sames things we can. And he has lots of "friends" to back him up and keep us occupied. Erika asked me if I could make a fan for her, which I did. I put my pom-poms on T-Bone's ghost friend who had possessed a Cherry tree. Ray gave a rousing speech, Erika and Jacob bolstered everyone's health, and then we got to the top of the building and went out onto the roof.
The sight that greeted us was... not encouraging. Daitokuji was in this robot that looked directly from some Animé. It was a huge battle droid. But he wasn't alone, of course. There were these four priests holding open the portal to the Overworld. There was a Gyuki and a bunch of robots. I really hate those robots. There was no way I would have been able to hit any of the bots, and I wasn't fast enough to even do anything, like take out the priests. I just stood there watching as all hell broke loose, literally. Erka entranced the Gyuki, which was just really cool. Cesar and the others went after Daitokuji. But before much could happen, five Shitagami appeared and went after Erika and Ray. They were both hurt, which made more appear. Erika was really hurt. Jacob finally got over to her and put up a shield. Helena healed her some and I finished the job. Sam got hit hard, too, which Pierre healed. I felt so useless, until the Shinobi appeared. I was angry again and used my Sekem Barrier to chase away the Shinobi and Shitagami. I got a few, but not all. And then the unthinkable happened. Daitokuji's bot was destroyed and exploded. FUCK that hurt. Thank the gods for the bolsters. Everyone seemed a bit hurt, but not too bad off yet. I think a few things tried to hit me, but they were deceived by my height, I think.
At this point, Daitokuji put up an unseen shield, which Cesar shot at, just to shoot, but it bounced off. Cesar started trash talking him while Daitokuji powered up and the rest of us handled all that was coming after us, robots, Shinobi and Shitagami. I was able to take out two Shinobi in one shot. I also went after a couple of Shitagami and the big ass robots. Then... everything was quiet and Daitokuji dropped his shield. We all attacked at once, but Cesar was the one to hit him. Cesar was angry, very angry, Aztec angry. He held his gun up at heart level on Daitokuji and dropped him in one shot. That, unfortunately, didn't stop what was there from attacking us. I saw Helena get hit hard and drop. I ran over to her and healed her wounds. As I was doing so, I looked up and saw the face in the vortex. Erika screamed that it was Mikaboshi. He was not happy and he threatened us. I was too busy paying attention to Helena. I was just wrapping a few bandages around her when suddenly there was this huge flash and everything went dark.
When I woke up, I found myself in a white room. I could hear the others stirring around me. My clothes and claws were hanging on the wall. I quickly dressed and moved out into the central room. I heard Storm and Jacob asking if everyone was all right. I attacked Sam the moment I saw him, hugging him tightly and trying to hold back tears. Zeus entered the room, praising us. Yes, Zeus praised us. He said we'd angered Mikaboshi enough to weaken his shield and so he was able to take him out. He said he had something for us and would wait for us to get ready outside. Looking out the doorway, we noticed we were actually on Mount Olympus. Holy Shit. First Asgard, now Mount Olympus. Where to next? Zeus was waiting for Echo and other nymph, which ended up being Ray's friend. I waved and smiled at Echo. I'm sure she was really glad to see Echo was all right. Zeus led us to this coliseum and all of our parents were there. I pointedly ignored Frigg, but Hel still was interesting. So was Izanami and Huitzilopochtli. I gave Tezcatlipoca a smile as I got to Mother. I hugged her tightly, glad she was all right. She introduced me to Anpu and I told him he really needed to do something about his son's defense and ability to take a hit. I don't know how much more of this I can handle. It makes me so angry when I see him really hurt. I really need to do something to help, too.
So now it's done. It's over. We've gained understanding of our peers in Erika and Elisa's band. They have become our friends. Maybe one day we will work together again. I hope so. I plan to stay in touch with them. I can't wait to see Elisa's baby! He or she should be beautiful... and tall. This has been quite an experience.
