Oi, I'm tired. Two nights in a row, but I do enjoy the company. There were a few interesting revelations made and Carina wore a dress. Yes, a dress. It looked sort of
like this. And she was wearing her ankh, earrings and ring, plus the bracelet Sam had given her. By the way,
baronsamedi, that was not Carina laughing at Sam when he told us his name. That was me. I found it quite amusing, but Carina would never do something like that.
I got a call from Cesar the other day. It seems his boss (not his dad) has asked him to do something for him, something that requires the help of his friends, meaning us. So, after being home for a month, testing out my new abilities and testing Kamarina, I called up Papa and told him I had to leave again. He and I had talked after my meeting with Mother and he was very proud of me. He also told me that I must have more faith in myself and my abilities. He even had Mama get on me about it, too. I suppose I am a bit more confident now. Perhaps after I use my new powers and show the others what I can do, they will have confidence in me, too.
I packed up, found a flight to LA, got Kamarina in her crate and headed west. One of Cesar's boys met me at the airport and took me to the very posh hotel that his boss was keeping us up in. I arrived a day early so that I could go to the zoo in LA while I was there. I had a good time and got to speak with their big cat keepers after showing my badge for the Memphis zoo. We were having dinner at a very expensive (and from what I understand extremely good, too) Italian restaurant. This was the type of place where you needed to dress up to go to. I had packed a dress I bought recently when I was feeling a bit good about myself. It's a red, sleeveless dress. I was also wearing my usual jewelery; my ankh necklace, my moon earrings, my Eye of Re ring, and the bracelet Sam had given me.
We arrived at the restaurant together. Sam was dressed as he normally is, all in black. Helena was wearing her black business suit. Storm was decked out in a black three-piece Armani. Jacob was wearing comfortable clothes, a button down shirt with dress slacks. But Cesar looked the best out of all of us. He was wearing a suit with one of his usual shirts underneath, though it was a very new shirt he'd received from his father. It had a jungle type pattern on it with hummingbirds. I certainly liked it. Helena didn't seem too thrilled, but I thought it was perfect for Cesar.
We ordered and then sat around discussing what we'd done the last month. It seems that Caleb, Jacob's son, had been rebellious and then met his first giant. All he ended up with was a broken arm. He's certainly his father's son. Just off the cuff, as we were discussing Caleb's rebellion, Sam tells us his full name, Samuel Adams Gannon. His twin brother's name is Samwise Gamgee Gannon. He readily admitted that his mother drank a lot, hence his name. I really feel sorry for him to a point. No wonder he's so... different. I'll have to ask Mother if those are the kind of women Anubis likes. I'm not sure how Sam's mother got the name Samwise, though. If she drank that heavily, I can't see her getting through the Lord of the Rings books.
All of us had been visited by our godly parents and given extra power. That says to me that things really are getting bad and very soon. Jacob then mentioned that Dehlia is missing. His mother, Frigg, had asked him to try and find her. Frigg seems to think that Dehlia's mother, Tlazolteotl (thank the gods for Wikipedia - I couldn't have spelled it otherwise), is hiding her or something. Dehlia isn't bad, so we readily agreed. Between Gump and Helena, they found the last place her cell phone had been used, Mexico City. I suppose when we finish here in LA, we'll head down there, after a quick detour to Oregon to go sign Caleb's cast. The kid finally is understanding his father. That's a good thing.
After dinner, which was excellent (I had Venezia on pene pasta - I like spinach!), we headed to the House of Paris. Cesar introduced us to Paris, who was very cordial to all of us. We got down to business and Paris told us of the trouble some of his businesses were having with groups known as Shamballa. One of the Shamballa groups were all Vietnamese, and the others were African. And there has also been a group of Mexicans going by the same name. They all act odd and challenge people to play soccer before taking them over. It's really weird. But after a bit of digging, and Helena's perfect memory, we found that they probably work for the Mayan god, Hun Came. This is bad. They are bad. They "killed" one of Paris' men. They bound his soul to his body, which had been decapitated, skinned, his arms and legs cut off, and his heart cut out. The poor man cannot die. It's quite sad and sickening. Hopefully we can probably handle whatever they throw at us. Paris paid us $500 each up front, plus promised $2000 upon completion, and an extra amount, which I seriously can't remember right now because of all the looks that were going around the room at that moment, for whomever kills Hun Came. He also mentioned a bit of a problem with our friends, the security group from Arizona (followers of Mikaboshi, remember?). There was someone he knew who could tell us about them just down a few floors.
We went down to speak with the man and found a very, very tall (taller than Storm) black gentleman wearing a white suit and top hat. He introduced himself as Pierre. He is a Scion of Baron Samedi, one of the Loa gods. He reminded me of that guy in the Bond movie, "Live and Let Die", who played Baron Samedi. He is part of a group of Scions, like us. They've fought these people, too. He told us that they now have some robots who are very good fighters. It was a warning, mostly. We're going to look into the LA contingent when we get finished with the job for Paris first. So, another job to add to our never ending list. At least we're busy.
We finished talking to Pierre and headed back to the hotel. I'm so glad. Those shoes were killing my feet. Now I can get dressed in normal clothes.
Damn, that took forever to write. So many interruptions and it took FOREVER to find that dress. You would think it would be easier to find a red dress that simple. (I started in on this at about 9am) Can't wait to see everyone else's journal and I'm ready for the next session!
