God, it's so damn hot outside. Summer finally shows up, and now, of all times, our AC decides not to work. Thankfully it isn't too much of a big deal. It's getting fixed right now, but last night was miserable for everyone involved. The Scion game was really good last night. Everyone got there pretty much in good time, but we still didn't get started until eight, which sucks. I'm sorry that I have to drive 30 minutes to get there. I can't stay past eleven, and ten thirty is even better. But if it is too much of a hassle, I'll drop the games so you guys can play later. Sorry.
So, without further ado...
I pretty much kept to myself at the hotel in Tempe. I did what I could, put the ward on the room, and watched over the amulet. Sam had been keeping track of Julian and his friends. They had just up and left suddenly, flying to Cairo. How convenient, especially after Jacob tells us that he knows we're going to have to work with them. Ugh. Smug bastard. I wonder what he's going to want from us. Probably the amulet, which he isn't going to get. Jacob said that Julian and his group were helping us fight off one of the pieces of Apep. That was a bit scary. After some searching online, I narrowed down where this fight is going to take place. The pyramid Jacob saw was one in the middle of BFE (bum-fuck Egypt), literally. It's to the southwest of Cairo. I'm not sure why we would go there, unless it's just to take care of this piece of that snake. If we were to kill it, that would weaken Apep greatly. But Jacob also saw the guardians, the freaky undead guys who look like those weird kopesh wielding suckers from The Mummy. They were attacking Mother's temple at the Valley of the Kings. Honestly, that frightens me. I don't want any of my sisters to get hurt or die. I'm young, not a heartless bitch.
So, anyway, Storm gets a message that the plane will be ready at around four am. I also got a call from Tanith, wanting to get together for dinner. I brushed her off as gently as I could, telling her I would get back in touch with her later. Yeah, not gonna happen. I think I'll just swear off relationships and sex completely. It might upset Mother a bit, but I don't care. I have things I need to concentrate on that are much more important, like my life and the lives of my comrades. They were really upset with me, but I think it was mostly because they were worried I would get hurt, or I left them to get hurt. It wasn't the care, really. I will never be alone with Storm again, though. He's really frightening.
We get up at god-awful o'clock in the morning and drive to the airport. Helena and I got a little sleep, but obviously not enough. We both were a bit grumpy and slow. What made that worse was when Storm stopped as he was going into the plane and wouldn't move. Cesar got a little annoyed with him. He was reading something very intently. Sam brings my attention to something sneaking in the shadows. I'm pretty sure I know what it is, but I grab a flare gun from the plane and fire it towards the shadows. Mikaboshi's minions, the Shinobi, making one last stand for the amulet. It is so on.
I may not have been very awake, but that changed the moment I saw all five Shinobi coming after me. I pull on my claw and start swiping at them. I got a fairly good hit in on one. Suddenly, Cesar starts glowing, I mean sunlight type glowing. So bright that it hurts the Shinobi and they start going after him. Kamarina and I start clawing and biting at them while Cesar and Sam are shooting, Storm is hitting them with his javelin and Jacob is beating them with his staff. Helena was doing something, too, but I can't recall what. It took a little while, but we took them down and got on the plane quickly.
Just as I was getting ready to curl up with Kamarina, Storm comes and tells us what he had been reading just before we were attacked. It seems his half-brother wants to meet with us. Half-brother, as in his father is Zeus as well. He left a phone number to contact him. We decided to see what happens when we get to Cairo. I laid down across the seats with my head on Kamarina and slept most of the way.
We arrived and got settled into our hotel room. I put up the same ward here as I had in Tempe. It's getting very tiring to do. I don't know how I'm going to get the will back to be able to do anything. Storm called his brother and we went to meet with him. He had a very nice boat, and he's very old, even though he doesn't look it. He was "activated" over eighty years ago. Wow. He went through WWII, and then went into hiding, still helping people when he could. Storm talked to him, letting him know that his time had come again to help, blah, blah, blah. Whatever. He seems nice enough, smart, handsome and rather strong. His name is Savage, Clark Savage, Jr. He's Doc Savage. Wow. I guess knowing that the gods exist makes knowing that a pulp fiction character exists easier to take.
We went back to the hotel and Storm went out to the library. I'm not sure why. I decided to go to the temple dedicated to Mother. I wanted to see what it looks like this close to her. I hadn't been there too long when my phone started vibrating. I had a text message from Jacob that said to come back immediately. I dropped a few dollars in the coffers and made my way quickly back to the hotel, keeping to the shadows. Sam found out something on the internet. The hotel where Julian and his crew were staying had a firefight. Julian got out, but some of the guardians were seen. There's a good chance they'll be coming after us next. Time to prepare...
