I love Tim Zahn.

And here is why:

To Han's complete lack of surprise, the rendezvous turned out to be like all the rest of the little hidey-holes General Rieekan seemed to have stashed around the Empire. It was quiet, reasonably private, and about as sorry an excuse for a military base as he'd ever seen.

Still, it did have one redeeming value. Leia was there.

That's from his new Star Wars novel Allegiance which is set between A New Hope and Empire. Mara Jade is in there, of course, as the eighteen year old Emperor's Hand. The story is really interesting. A group of human stormtroopers are growing concerned with how things are going, and because of a small accident with an ISB (Imperial Security Bureau) agent - who believed the ISB ruled over everything - they're outcasts. The story was inspired by a conversation Tim had with a 501st member at Stellarcon in 2004. Cool, local connection. Granted I'm only 42 pages into the book, but it's typical Zahn. I'm so glad they're writing in this time period. I hope they write more.

Oh, there's a souped up TL-1800 in there that's made me drool. Now I know what my ship in our game could do and what it can hold. Awesome. I miss reading Star Wars so much. I hate the New Jedi Order era. Bad writing and a book coming out every month made it hard to even want to read. Maybe when I finish this book I'll be able to write a new SW fanfic. That would be cool.

writing, star wars
