BACK FROM SEEING IRON MAN 3 AND ASLMDLASJDLSAJLKLJSLKASJDADJKA.
I CAN'T EVEN RIGHT NOW, MY BRAIN NEEDS TO ASSIMILATE ALL THE INFORMATION THAT WAS JUST JAMMED THROUGH MY EYEBALLS.
Mostly likely spoilers in comments because LKAJSLDKJASDJSAJKD.
(Icon is not an implied spoiler, BTW, it's just the only Avengers icon I have. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECTIFIED.)

I do think Jon Favreau generally had a subtler touch than Shane Black as a director. I think the final action sequence got a little crazy and even silly with the ten billion suit changes and Ninja Pepper and all of that.
But I liked the Ben Kingsley "Mandarin" being a total fake-out, and Tony taking steps to firmly establish who he wants to be, and be more than the suit, were really nice, as was his dealing with PTSD and anxiety issues (although let's face it, he probably still has it from his ordeal in Afghanistan, it didn't just start in NYC).
Rhodey was awesome. WARMACHINEROX, all in caps.
Tony/Pepper isn't a huge OTP for me but some of the relationship moments, and the two of them trying to navigate things by just talking, admitting they were wrong, etc., were quite thoughtful.
All in all, not the best Marvelverse movie, IM1 is still my favorite of the Iron Man trilogy, and Dark Knight Rises still gets my vote for "best third movie in a comics trilogy", but I'd call IM3 a strong entry overall. It was definitely better than I expected and what objections I have are minor.
