Today was my last day at Old!Job - I start on Monday at New!Job. So far, I am totally impressed by my new co-workers and their apparent fabulosity and the dealings I have had with them. I have been told by several different people about the new co-workers' fabulosity as well, so I feel pretty good about things.
My old co-workers had a surprise breakfast for me this morning, and gave me a hydrangea plant (need to figure out where I want to plant that in the yard) and a Scrabble set (because we always played ongoing sprawling games in the staff work room).
I am totally excited for Monday. (And only a teeny bit nervous.) I need to figure out what to wear. :)

Elena was sick for a couple of days early last week with a fever and headache and some dizziness. That came back today and she was sent home from school (she seemed perfectly normal at 8:15, but not so 90 minutes later......). My girl *never* gets sick, so this is kind of weird and unusual. It's just a low-grade ick, but doesn't seem to be going away (or rather, it went away for 9 days, and now it's resurfacing?). We are going to keep her quiet this weekend and make sure she's well-rested and well-hydrated, and if that doesn't kick it, then we will call her doctor.

Last year, at a fundraiser, we bid on a package at a silent auction. We are going to use one of the items this weekend (okay, we'll let Elena leave the house for this!) - it's a scenic flight over the area! Hopefully the air temperature will warm up a little by Sunday, otherwise it is going to be COLD up there. :)

A few weeks ago, I went poking around through my yarn stash and was kind of appalled by how much there was piled up there. The thing is, I think of myself as primarily a quilter and therefore assume that most of my piles in the sewing room are fabric - and they are - but the amount of yarn was still a little stunning and surprising. Some of it cheap stuff, some less so....... Anyway, I have been knitting a little more lately (maybe inspired to try and use some of it up?), and have been practicing knitting in the round. I made a tube sock for starters, and now I am attempting one with a Real Heel. (I'm still on the cuff, though, so it's too early to tell how I'm doing.)

I feel like there was a fifth thing, but I already forgot. So I will share my
dinner recipe with you - easy and so tasty!
