So, I had a birthday, and now I am 40, and that's that. I spent a lot of time this week reflecting on the past decade and how much my life has changed: 10 years ago, I lived in a different place, and had a different job and career path, and didn't have a kid yet - really, the major constant in my daily life from then until now is
galagan. But those changes in my 30s have brought me to a good place (I was in a pretty decent situation at 30, but I like my current life even more!), and so I think at the bottom of it all, I'm okay with it all.
I had a wee birthday party yesterday (first one I've had in many many years....) and that was nice, and today I got to go to another party. I do have to work tomorrow - just a half day - but it should be super-duper quiet, and then I have a day and a half off, and then work the rest of the week. My baking is mostly done (I was aiming for yesterday's party) - though I still have some extra egg whites so I need to make meringues at some point; the presents are mostly wrapped (well, all the ones *I* am responsible for wrapping); the cards are ready for sending out (they will arrive late, but OH WELL); at this point, I mostly get to relax and just enjoy myself and a nice Christmas at home. And that will be very welcome.
